I have a prob that I can not figure out. I half to type in http:// for all the places on the web that i go I use to not have this problim and when I type it in without the http://, a search assist page comes up and says can not find nkvd.us/www.freeones.com/
Also the grey status bar at the bottom of ie is not there just goes from webpage to start menu how do i get it back
can anyone help me ps....I have xp

Well, normally, you can type something like "Yahoo" and as long as you hold down the CTRL button, it fills in everything for you. German keyboard is STRG key. I'm not sure about other languages...

I can't recall the last time I typed in a full URL. lol Explorer does it for you now. Use the tip I mentioned. I hope it helps!!! :nanner:

It seems you've been hit by a browser hijacker. I'm not an expert on dealing with those, but your first line of defense is probably to get the (free) program Ad-aware if you don't have it already. It scans your computer for all sorts of junk that gets onto your system without your permission.

About getting the status bar back, I assume you've tried just clicking the "View" button in the IE window and making sure Status Bar has a checkmark next to it?

and if all else fails get a new web browser, like avant. or you could just ping the web sites through your command prompt to get the ip, then enter the ip into the web browser...

Don't change browsers...that's just ignoring the problem. Deal with your control panels and settings and see if you can fix the problem.

I had that same problem but I would get the about blank web page everytime i went to my homepage I tried adware and it did not erase it but cwshredder you might want to try that one
