Controversial Ads

Saw this link on Yahoo and thought it was interesting only because I saw the ad two days ago and actually thought to myself, "Wow, TV is seriously going to go there?"

My second thought was, "I wish I could be surprised David Spade was trying to ride Farley's coat tails still."

Then I just thought, "Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive."

At least I know I'm not the only one who initially thought this was a little wrong. I'm still not sure altogether though. I guess the biggest question is, maybe it just hasn't been long enough since he died. Commercials have thrown in dead musicians and actors into their ads for years. Everyone from Elvis to John Lennon. So is this just a case of, "Too Soon?"

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I agree with you. And considering how little respect (none) I have for David Spade, I'm not surprised either.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
I don't see the big deal. People need to get the sand out of their vagina for fuck sakes.

Pain heals, chicks dig scars, Freeones lasts forever
There should be some decent time given when someone dies IMO.I saw an ad for some kind of halloween related thing that was using Michael Jackson's Thriller music soon after his death.I thought to myself if this had been set up before his death that's one thing but if they were just trying to cash in on the publicity of his death and made the deal for use of the song after that was tasteless.

I think it helps if you know the history between Spade and Farley though. Now granted, Farley stole his g/f, but the two of them hated each other with a passion toward the end of his career. Spade barely got through Black Sheep, which is why you see some horrendous acting in the movie because they just wanted to finish it.

Farley always felt Spade was just riding his fame up the ladder. ( I agree). So I see this is a tasteless move by Spade, not by the dish company. Well, maybe a little by the dish company. But more by Spade.
