D-Day : Book by Antony Beevor

I am a keen student of World War II and I have just bought and am now reading D-Day by Antony Beevor.

Beevors previous books, Stalingrad, Berlin, were both superb books.
Each book evoked and replayed the sheer brutality that was World War II in Russia and Germany.

Beevor, an acknowledged historical expert and former British army officer, in his latest book, D-Day, brings more and more information to that seminal event.
For example, the Allies killed more French civilians during D-Day, that they did Germans.

For keen students of WWII, I thoroughly recommend Beevors book.

I've read his Stalingrad book. Which I thought was excellent, probably the best book I have read on the subject.

Just finished the D-Day book a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's written to be accessible and keeps a coherent dialogue throughout.

I can also recommend two WW2 histories by Max Hastings-Nemesis, the battle for Japan and Armageddon , the battle for Germany.

Hastings books are excellents reads too.
