Did anyone get the "swine flu"?

I got a flu back in September; first thing I did when I moved over to the UK. Couldn't tell you what sort though.

I've actually been told by a doctor that whiskey is as good as cold medicines.

My sister's ex stayed with a family in Germany for a while on some student exchange program, and when he got a cold his live-in family gave him a shot of booze. So I don't necesarilly doubt that it works. I suppose in moderation? I swear all the firewater I took in there was no way any bacteria was going to grow in my lungs. :D

Only 3,000 posts until I get my FreeOnes shirt!
According to the CDC, four thousand Americans died from swine flu and 22 million contracted the disease. And it's not over yet.

http://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/news/20091112/over-22-million-in-us-had-h1n1-swine-flu

About 20,000 die every year from the regular flu so the four thousand deaths isn't the giant epidemic that the media and other sources made this thing out to be. I can't wait till next flu season where we'll get another scare, maybe donkey flu, and then we can buy more immunization shots from pharmecutical companies.

Girls fuck me in my dreams!
i did catch it, or maybe a variation of it. I had all the symptoms with high fever, chills, spitting up blood, ache all over, hard to breathe... i had to toughen it out at home in bed. The thought of getting a big ass hospital bill putting me behind in tuition made the decision for me. Water and Bayer did the trick.

I think this virus is more harsh on younger kids and elderly.

Next time try this advice:

A pint a day keeps the doctor away. ;)

what the fuck you lookin at?
nope. nice "pandemic" huh? Probably wasn't even real. Just some made up word to scare kids and old people.

I purposefully made out with people who had the swine flu (mostly children and the elderly)so I could contract it and spread it. It didn't work. :(

The big problem is that governments told people that swin,e flue would be a major global health crisis an finally it wat very far from being such a thing, so, if a real crisis is coming within the next years, are we gonna trust the government's warnings ?

Nope, it's the whole crying wolf thing.

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
Didn't get it either, which was surprising to me since according to most girls I'm "such a pig"

I changed my middle-name to Freeones
i never got it, never even considered getting the vaccine...i know a few people who 'got' it...i dunno, just seemed like a bad case of the normal flu, they all ended up being fine...i think one old person with a failing immune system might have died from it, but honestly they probably wouldn't have been able to handle anything remotely serious anyway, but i dunno just my :2 cents:

I don't know if I ever got it. I didn't have the opportunity to go to a doctor to get my flu analyzed, but at some point last year I got sicker than at any other point in the last 14 years, and I almost never get sick.

Smallville417

FreeOnes turned me straight!
No, and I took a plane and bus trip. I don't have any friends or family that I know of who contracted it either.

Quite a few people in my area got it - a few schools were closed for a couple of days as a result, and there were times when walking through town or the malls was like walking through a post-apocalyptic world. Then again, communities filled with uneducated rednecks like this one are susceptible to contagious disease. (NOTE: not all rednecks got swine flu, not all who got the swine flu are rednecks).
Me, I'm going on my 10th year without a touch of the flu. Since drastically changing my diet, my body has been basically chuckling at any disease.

Re: Did anyone get the "swine flu" vaccination . .?

No I did not and I'll tell you why, the govt campaign to combat the swine flu illness was very passive for one and for two, the death toll didn't amount to squat compared to the regular seasonal influenza death toll.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
For the first time in about ten years, I got the flu shot this year... both shots, in fact. The schools in my area had outbreaks and were closed for a few days. And there were at least two deaths that I heard about at the local hospital (one baby and one middle aged person).

I've only had the ("regular") flu once as an adult. And it made me wish that I could just get well enough to die. My doctor told me that the H1N1 was nothing to joke around about, so I got the shot. And I would believe him before I'd listen to the yammerings of some wingnut kook like Michele Bachmann, dreaming up government conspiracies at every turn. Say, what happened with her promise to slash her wrists if healthcare reform passed? Wonder if she needs some help with that?! She better not forget. I'm planning a party for the night that she does it. :nanner:

I can set my own custom title!
No, and neither did anyone else.

It was a hoax.

It pretty rapidly blew through the crew of actors I had for my haunted house last fall (myself included, and yes, we were actually tested for it when we came down sick). Worst part lasted a couple days, but the bleh feeling hung around for a couple weeks.

It was a great way to operate a haunted house. But overall, I wouldn't say it was worse than just a bad cold. No one was anywhere near death.
