I'm sure the Cambodians, the Jews, the Russians, and all the other victims, need to know who's oppressor was the "worst". Mass-murderers are all equal in their evil, and their names, like them, should die. Their atrocities will never be forgotten, I don't see the need to bring up the worst criminals and their crimes.

My Mother-in-law is from the killing-fields, and it would take a cold-hearted SOB to ask her about Pol Pot. I find this all very offensive, because it's offensive.

But respond with how I'm preaching and how you have every right to ask who's a better genocidal maniac. At least 10 million people died from the men on your list, I think they deserve the respect of not being ranked. And I feel that this is a ranking, because you can view the results!

By the way, did Jeffrey Dahmer serve one term or to as prime minister of Lower Southeast Glockenspielia? Or wasn't it that his running-mate, Charles Manson, resigned from the party and sucessfully defeated the incumbent, while setting the political stage for years to come by spear-heading a powerfuly party block that would bring to supreme power the likes of Ted Bundy, Dennis Rader, and of course, the ubiquitous Sam Other(?!)

So you hate the foundation of the US economy from the late 1800s to the late 1900s. Understandably, there were some very bad times for workers in the late 1800s to early 1900s. And then we had the various socialist movements that did great things for our nation -- people caring for people.

Unfortunately, people started mandating socialist concepts, instead of letting people individually choose to work together. And that's where you ran into the problem of people differing, whose ever idea was more popular was adopted and then forced on the others. And that's why communism failed.

and love the U.S. (in general). You can't tell me what I love or hate, and you certainly can't define what the U.S. means.

The US has moved from capitalism to a facist economic model. It has become a country of 2/3rds entitlements and 1/3rd military-based R&D since JFK on-ward. That is not sustainable.

To me, the U.S. means freedom and equality, liberty and open doors to all, even if actuality doesn't mirror ideology. I fight for those ideologies, because that is what I always believed America to be, and that is what I think it should be and someday will be. America has the foundations to be that, in my opinion.

Freedom and equality in access, not entitlement! You can't seem to grasp that concept. The major difference between the US and USSR was that the US never attempted to guarantee fair, the US only guaranteed free! That includes the free will to fuck up and fall straight on your face. But it also meant the ability to pick yourself up and try again.

People who bitch about their job should try running their own business. You don't have to have money to do so. You don't even have to have credit to do so. But it's damn hard! 90% of US businesses are by people who do NOT have money, but they work hard with a belief that they can "do it better." If you don't like things, change it by forming your own company! The government has never been the answer!

Especially when it comes to increased regulation. The so-called "stop the big businesses" attitude by increasing regulation only makes it worse! It gives big business more ways to lobby the government -- especially the federal. If you're going to increase government -- do it at the state or local level, not 1 "clearing house for all lobbyists!" We don't need more government regulation, we need less -- especially because more often hurts smaller businesses than large!

I'm tired of people telling me I hate the U.S. I don't hate any nation. Hating an ism doesn't make you hate a country that follows that ism. Not all Americans are capitalists. I don't hate the U.S. I should really learn to ignore your posts, because they almost always feature either insults (you know jack shit about history you ignorant foooool etc etc) or provocative labelling statements that are unfair and provocative (how can an IRANIAN say such a thing, you obviously hate America etc etc etc).

The difference between Hilter and Stalin is that Stalin committed mass murder and genocide before, during and after WWII. Hitler reserved most of it for the war. Stalin just "won a war" on the side of the US -- but everyone forgets Stalin helped start it and was quite involved in the genocide that Hitler is often solely blamed for!

Hitler and Stalin massacred hundreds of thousands of Poles and several neighboring people in 1939-1940 and no one seems to remember the Soviet incursions into Scandinavia and other countries. And to a point far worse than Hitler and his Nazi party, Stalin rose to power in the Communist party and maintained power by killing off his critics, to the point that Lenin was at odds with him.

But unlike Hitler, Stalin massacred countless mindshare in his own country's infrastructure, a fact that bit him in the ass when it came to WWII. At least Hitler wasn't stupid enough from that infrastructure aspect. In 1945, the USSR started shelling installations in German and Berlin under US and western ally control, and committed other actions that resulted in far too many deaths.

US General George S. Patton did not hold any punches on his distain for the Soviet and Stalin's thirst for conquest at the cost of civilian collateral and was often criticized for it by the US media and politicians because the USSR was our "ally" in WWII. This "under-reporting" and "we can't criticize Stalin because he was our ally" -- e.g., "The Big Three" (FDR, Churchill and Stalin) -- is why most people think Hitler was far worse.

Stalin was also responsible for the countless deaths after the war, and his techniques have been used by various people -- including Saddam Hussein. Stalin takes the cake on the number of innocent civilians killed -- worse than Hitler.

I'm very sorry about your mother-in-law's experience but this discussion is a viable and reasonable one. I must continue to take exception with your stance that, simply because you "don't see the need" to bring the subject up, that it should not be discussed. There's not a single thread on this whole forum for which there is a "need".

Horrible things have happened throughout history. Therefore, it is offensive to discuss them? I don't follow that logic.

The main reason why Hitler is viewed with more disdain, is the WAY he went about killing off the jews, not for the actual slaughter itself. The systematic hunt and the efficient killing squads, ghettos, and death camps are what sets him apart from Stalin in the minds of most. Hitler didn't just wipe out Jews from his own country, he tried to wipe out Jews everywhere.

Either way, Jews for the most part have been shitkicked by one society or another, for a multitude of reasons, and its a shame really, but also a testament to their survival.

Least we forget that we turned away millions of jews, during this ethnic cleansing, nobody wanted to take jews in, despite knowing full well the extermination they faced.
