I heard on the radio a few months ago that men prefer high-pitched voices because of some genetic predisposition. I think they said it's the same reason why women prefer men with deeper voices. It's something to do with an instinctual attraction to someone who would be most likely to bear offspring.

Personally, I prefer huskier voices.
