Do social workers cause more trouble than they're worth?

Feds funded 300 abortions in DC

For decades Congress has used its power over the District of Columbia to ban the city from paying for abortions for poor women, but during a two-year period when lawmakers reversed course at least 300 women got city-funded procedures, according to data obtained by The Associated Press.

That period when the city was free to pay for abortions ended earlier this year. The city now says that during that time it spent approximately $185,000 providing elective abortions for poor women
who receive health care through government programs. The number of women who got abortions and their cost was provided by city officials after AP filed a Freedom of Information Act request.

Officials in the heavily Democratic city have sparred for years with Congress over the city's ability to cover the abortions with taxpayer money. During brief periods when Democrats have had control of the House, Senate and presidency, the city has been able to pay for them, but that ability has been taken away when Republicans and Democrats have shared power. The back-and-forth over the procedures is part of an ongoing struggle between local officials and Congress over control of city affairs.

The number of abortions the city now says it paid for contrasts with previous statements.

Liberals love to spend other people's money, i.e. taxpayer revenues, in order to exacerbate the very problems they pretend to be solving, it's a far left wing democratic party tradition. Seriously, why would social services actually want to improve on the problems of society, wouldn't that lend to poor job security?

Yes. People dedicating their lives to trying to work with the system to get the best for victims.

How dare they?

:dunno: When they remove a child from a home where Mom is cooking meth all day and Dad is molesting the kids, I guess we're happy with them. When they don't remove a child from a home where Mom is cooking meth all day and Dad is molesting the kids, I guess we're not so happy with them.

Just like cops, there are some that do their jobs humanely and well and there are some that don't. And just like cops, they (should) follow whatever rules and laws have been set up by and for the areas that they work in.

Rings of truth in some agencies.

For example, in who's benefit is it that couples split amicably, non-custodial parent pays their agree upon support to custodial parent for their child?

Certainly not the agency who employs people to enforce child support orders.

The flip side though, if people behaved responsibly the agency wouldn't exist in the first place but now that it does they need 'customers' in order to continue to get paid and get raises.

not always true mega.
in new jersey the GOV forces non custodial parents to pay through the state whether one or neither of the parents want it.
they lose payments, are late with payments, which leads to people getting warrants out for them, arrested, and their drivers license suspended ect ect.
And the agency will never admit they are wrong, even in court.

Plus this causes employers more work too.
And if your employer doesnt have their act together and is late with sending payments the non custodial parent pays the price.

Its a mess, its a broken system and to me another example of a GOV that has gotten too big.
Leave people alone who want to handle it by themselves, why cant they just butt out?

Its a government agency but its really just a business for profit.

Wow...that's pretty incredible and sounds like run-away progressivism IMO ....I emphasize 'sounds' because if I'm not mistaken Texas does the same thing.

This should be an example of why so called conservatism and progressivism is stuck on stupid sometimes because neither stands for anything but what it personally thinks is 'right' on a given issue.
