Does porn make us too shallow?

I know this might seem like a stupid question. But, I'm asking because I sometimes feel like I'll become less attracted to women I see everyday if I spend too much time looking at porn. I have seen posts where members say that they wish that the women they see everyday were as attractive as the women we talk about online. I obviously like porn. But am I unintentionally making myself less attracted to potential girlfriends by looking at it too much?

Are you in college? Go to college and a lot of the women you see in porn will look plain.

Here's another thing: Some of the prettiest girls are also the nicest, even the ones in sororities. The biggest haters are the above average but not HOT ones.

I'm out everyday. Minus a few differences I look at least when I'm clothed mostly the same in everyday clothing.

I guess what I meant was that I have never seen her in anything that revealing. I don't really have any details about her body that I can think about, except she has a nice ass. I don't really have much to work on when I'm thinking about her.

I am going vote "no" for a number of reasons. First of all, porn is fantasy land. I don't expect women in real life sex to look, talk or act like the women in porn because that's just downright unrealistic. If you don't understand that, then you shouldn't be watching porn in the first place. I'm not saying I would be upset if a woman I had sex with did talk like the ones in porn, but I am saying that you can't expect such a thing.

Second, porn stars aren't always the hottest babes in the world. I'm in college (community college, nontheless) and I see girls that look hotter than porn stars all the time. There are plenty of girls who don't have a suggestive/slutty look that are sexy and appealing in their own right.

And finally, in real life you should at least have some amount of concern over a girl's personality.

No shit - although I've worked with a few amazing girls in the industry, they tend to be the exception.

And I know I'm going to get shit on saying this but most of the models I've known are just a few neurons short of a lifetime pass to the local asylum - not really the "girl-friend" type.


As with so many facets of life, if you can't separate the fantasy from reality you're going to have a very disappointing life.

Cant see the big deal to be honest. There are so many things now in life now that make people shallow it really doesn't matter. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. I am no more different to women, because I watch porn. It is what it is.

I know I should focus on personality. I have usually liked girls that are pretty nice. I'm still that way, thankfully. I just feel like I'm slipping into a state of mind where I'm no longer getting turned on as much by women who are actually not bad looking at all.
