Former NHL enforcer Donald Brashear wants to step into the cage to try MMA

No stranger to fighting, Donald Brashear is looking to mixed martial arts.

A spokeswoman for promoter Ringside MMA says it has reached agreement with the former NHL enforcer to try his hand at cage-fighting.

"Despite Brashear's lack of experience in MMA, he's a very athletic guy, he's in good shape, he's gutsy, he's learning pretty fast and showed an early interest and motivation," the spokeswoman said. "Plus, he's no stranger to fighting.

Sounds like a terribel idea. Hockey fights are pretty far from MMA. This time there won't be a shirt to pull over opponent's head.

if anything fighting on skates might help his takedown defence.

if he starts at the bottom not a big show like ufc he probably will make an impact.

but he will probably wont have any business moving beyond the minor leagues.

wouldnt mind seeing laraque in mma, he'd train with GSP. they've already grappled for fun on tsn's off the record. both from the same canadian province.
