Dumb Ass With A Smart Phone

I need some help from any iPhone or Outlook geniuses out there. I am the owner of an iPhone and I just got a new laptop with MS-Outlook as my mail client. On my old computer, I could download and read messages in Outlook and have them duplicated in the inbox on the iPhone. With this new computer, every time I open an email in Outlook, it automatically deletes it from my iPhone. I've looked at all the settings and online for help with this to no avail. I feel like a dummy with a phone that is smarter than I am. :anonymous

Running a dual-core PC, Windows XP Pro, MS-Outlook 2003. 3G iPhone.

Your email server, is it an Exchange, IMAP or POP server?

It is set up as an IMAP on the phone....POP on the comp. Is that the problem?

Set up both as IMAP.

Jag, I am aware of a mail account setting in Outlook, which instructs Outlook to leave a copy on the server.
