Don't trust either Shepard Smith or Glenn Beck.
Yes, we don't have a permanent Surgeon General because of the NRA and a obstructionist Republican controlled congress.
The CDC budget is about half of what it was seven years ago because of the Tea Party anti-big government movement. It's probably about a tenth of what it should be.
In the entire US there are only 9 beds available at the highest level of safe contact for dangerous viruses like Ebola and 5 are in use!
But don't sweat Ebola the common flu is much more transmitable and will kill about 30k people this year alone.

The first nurse to contract Ebola is now cured and visited the White house today. The second nurse is now free of the disease but still in isolation. This is looking like a treatable disease if caught early enough. Unfortunately a recently returned Doctors Without Borders Doctor has come down with it in New York.

Oh, I forgot to mention in my previous post: A top official at CDC asked for a Congressional hearing back on Sept 2nd, but congress couldn't be bothered until this week. Now they are grandstanding and demanding to know: Who let this get out of control?
