Electric '72 Datsun Obliterates Vettes and Ferraris on the Dragstrip!!

The embedded Youtube vid really has to be seen to be believed. Impressive!

I love this sort of shit. The car itself is so quiet (at least relatively so) and lacks the slightest pretense of any hot-dogging, machismo posturing bullshit, which is always ridiculously ubiquitous at most motorsports events. It just GOES!

I think the environmental benefits that the guy speaks of are quite debatable, but there's almost certainly some wisdom in the one slogan (on his trunk, I think): Question Internal Combustion!

and if your curiosity was piqued about the "Killacyle", there's more here on it:

Fuck the rest, Freeones is the best!
Ha Ha cool... they had an electric car on Top Gear the other day that smoked a gas powered car... however it had some issues on cornering due the the weight in batteries. ;)

That was awesome. Nice find!
This is a key link in the chain towards clean environment footprint. All we need to do (ha) is to figure out a way to harness solar to charge these batteries and make these batteries hold their charge longer?

Could he make a commuter version of the Zombie? Something with 100hp but could do 100 miles a day on a charge?

In my dreams I have fucked Jenna Jameson.
Haha wow that is insane!

Wow, 40 miles on one charge.

Yeah, that is kinda pathetic, but considering that after he trounces the Ferrari he can still drive to get groceries and go back home is pretty cool.

Plus, THIS model isn't so much about practicality - just like the Vettes and Ferraris aren't either...

Huh?

All we need to do (ha) is to figure out a way to harness solar to charge these batteries
I assume that was a joke. We use far more power for just mobility than we could ever extract from solar.

There is this major lie out there than we can make solar panels more efficient than the actual energy the sun outputs over the panel's area of collection. There is only so much energy in photons, and over the surface of a panel, it's not that much, even if the panel was 100% efficient in conversion (which is impossible anyway).

and make these batteries hold their charge longer?
That's a far more doable. There are so many combinations that should be capable of holding a far greater charge.

Right now Li-Ion rechargeables still lack even fuel cells by 4x in the same containment size. Hopefully one day we can see batteries even more powerful.

Although it's still very likely that both batteries and fuel cells, anything that stores a great amount of energy, will be dangerous if punctured. That's always going to be an issue.

Something that is better addressed with mass transit than small, individual vehicles.
