Tie the two issues together. Democrats have to be willing to support comprehensive abortion restrictions and Republicans have to be willing to support comprehensive gun restrictions. It's the lost art of compromise. If either party is unwilling to give up something they hold dear to get something they so desperately covet, they deserve nothing.

because once you have a disarmed populace, the government can do whatever it pleases, including rescinding an abortion ban, to even making it mandatory in certain cases or whatever they want. a disarmed populace has no recourse against a tyrannical government or a tyranny of a majority.

and the left would never give up abortion for ending the 2nd amendment if it just ended there.
