When I first saw a report on this story on TV, I thought, 'you got to be kidding me'

Fake euro coin scam uncovered

Investigators probing a massive fraud involving fake euro coins have raided offices and homes of Bundesbank and Lufthansa workers, according to a Thursday media report.

...

Full Story

The Bundesbank collect damaged coins to get them out of circulation and replace them with fresh ones. Good thing.

But the way they do it, is just stupid:

Euros are made from two differently coloured metals, at least the the 1 and the 2 Euro coins

http://www.ecb.int/euro/coins/html/index.en.html

So the Bundesbank simply stamps the inner parts out and sell both seperately as old metal.

Who would have guessed that someone might think:

'He let's put them together again, shine them up a bit, and we got a nice little racket'

When I read about the US version of the Bundesbank to mess up the new printing of a shitload of dollar bills, I laughed and said, ' They can't even handle fresh money' :1orglaugh

Now I won't point my finger no more
