Noor Faleh Almaleki, 19, was killed in 2009 after being struck by an SUV driven by her father. Authorities have accused the man of doing it intentionally.

A father accused of killing his daughter because she had become too Westernized showed little emotion as a doctor described her injuries, but looked away when photos of her broken, lifeless body were displayed to the jury.

I can see how Killing yourself in the face of defeat like they did in feudal Japan can be considered honorable to some, but killing you own child is the worst thing you can do. This man is completely without honor. he is scum. He is below everything.

There have been threads covering this before, honour killings are cultural and not religious, they are simply a system of control where asian parents want their children to marry someone of their preference, many muslims only want marriage within the family and even other backwards asians that are not muslim want their children marrying someone of the same religion/caste and sometimes even a dowry (payment) is involved. In any case the article doesn't mention anywhere that this killing was religiously motivated, it was just some scumbag who thought killing his own daughter would restore the family honour, fortunately these cases are rare but when they do occur are given lots of media attention which gives the impression that the problem is more widespread. This is just the sad case of someone living in the stone ages and he deserves everything he gets, wouldn't surprise me if he was a kurd.

I've heard people sometimes use religion to settle personal scores, if i man wants a new wife he'll accuse her of adultery in sharia law or someone doesn't like another person they'll accuse them of blasphemy or something to try and get them taken out, the motive is often money somewhere down the line.

Interesting that you seem to be criticising what happened as a 7th century throwback & then feel its okay to administer an equally primitive form of punishment.
This is a horrible crime but hardly evidence of multiculturalism failure (even if you do put the word FAILURE in capital letters)

I'm glad you posted that and I definitely get the argument. Imagine if we took crimes of, say, African Americans or lower income White Americans and applied the same logic. There would be outrage in every state.

As I've expressed before, I cannot stand organized religion and Islam, but if you compared the crimes of ethnic Muslims in America to any other American group, the don't hold a candle.
