I do not think that the biggest cause of the 'Honour-Killings' is not the religion. In my opinion, it is the mental state of people. If you are over-eager about not being able to accept that anyone in your family does things that makes you look bad in your peer group, be that a religious circle or the neighbourhood or whatever, you will develop a huge amout of shame/anger/frustration.

That is where the religion can really hurt you. In other circumstances, You Might go to a therapist or other guide - in a religion, you go to your priest, and if that person says, it is a sin, you and the person involved in your family will burn in hell or djehenna... the road to murder is paved out.

Like the religious extremists Beck and Palin. If you turn to them for guidance, they will poisin your mind and people will get killed in the effect. If you are not strong enough to decide for yourself.
