FBI: AWOL soldier had bomb materials near Ft. Hood

he had some gunpowder, which is perfectly legal to have, maybe he was going to reload some ammunition which is perfectly legal to do. In this economy it makes sense to reload your own ammo if you are an avid shooter.

Most likely they just want to fuck with guy because he is a conscientious objector.

He should never have joined the military to begin with if he was a muslim and he was uncomfortable killing other muslims and occupying muslim homelands.

If he isnt a Muslim and just used the Muslim thing as an excuse to not have to go kill innocent people in lands far away then I agree with him.

Well, the first part of your post is a leap.

The last part about conscientious objector, uncomfortable with killing and not wanting to kill innocent people...

I'll just leave you to ruminate squaring all that with the fact that he's confessed to the plot already (to kill innocent people).

Lastly, I will ALWAYS have a problem with those who volunteer then claim conscientious objector later. :wtf:??? To me, that status should only be granted upon relinquishing of citizenship too.

If you volunteer to serve in the US Armed Forces...then decide there is a cause you stand for greater than carrying out the duty you voluntarily swore to do....you should be stripped of your US citizenship IMO.

I have no problem if you're sitting on the sidelines and the g'ment comes calling but you have beliefs that are at odds with military duties then fine...it's a free country after all....

But quitters? Fuck 'em....

People make mistakes, joining the US military these days is one of them. If someone realizes it was a mistake to join, that they are not cut out to go kill innocent people, then I see nothing wrong with them using the conscientious objector out.

It is impossible to strip an American of his citizenship when he was born in the USA, you cannot just be a non citizen.

As for this kids "crime", people are set up, entrapped and railrodaed eveyday in the good ol' USA

There are remedies for getting out of the military if it's just not for you. They have discharges for that. Now they don't just hand out a discharge because after all, you did pledge yourself to service and they're going to make damn sure that you're sure you don't want to be in.

It is different to me though when someone joins and is fine with taking up arms until it comes to some situation in which they're siding with something or someone else over their country.

I won't go in circles on this ...it's my position and sounds like we'll just have to disagree.

But again, there is a distinction for me.
It is impossible to strip an American of his citizenship when he was born in the USA, you cannot just be a non citizen.
You never heard of the process of exile?

Uh, okay...but this guy confessed.:dunno:

Really?? You have to ask ME that?? You really don't read my posts do you?

Ask Jag and ragin...what they think I likely think should happen to a person who premeditates then takes innocent life.

How do you think the 101st feels that this Abdo puke was planning a terrorist attack? They need to weed 5th columnists like this out.

He probably thinks because you tend to be liberal about most issues that you are against the Death Penalty which couldn't be farther from the truth.

The last time the military executed somone according to their stats was on 4/13/1961 over 50 years ago!( John A Bennet for 'rape and pre meditated ATTEMPTED:surprise: murder').

Timothy McVeigh was efficiently found guilty , sentenced and executed in within 6 years of blowing up the Murrah(?) building in civilian Federal court.

While 10 years later no one from 9-11 or otherwise has been 'formally' executed by a miltary court .

That's why it always struck me as silly when the most pro Death Penalty Right Wingers were against Federal court for Kalid Sheik Muhammed and others:facepalm:

Civilian courts have no problem with asking for and administering the Death Penalty.

It's about politics.

They decry running terrorists through the criminal system and NIMBY in other cases but just where are the terrorists who attacked the WTC in '93. Where is the shoe guy, etc.??

Politics man... I'm not as bummed about them playing politics (although that's bad) as I am pissed that those who are supposed counter their politics with the superior point in the debate fail over and over and over and over...those who are supposed to nullify their protests by citing consistent circumstance or inconsistency in their positions fail over and over and over and over...

GOPers just end up saying :dunno: made the bastards dance a jig to our tune again. Now that we have this bad policy that dumb Demos were too inept to defeat us on...we're stuck with being inconsistent hypocrites the first time we have to put the policy in practice.\:mad:/ Oh well, at least come election time we'll be able to rely on a lazy ass electorate too numb to keep up with the facts. We'll just say it's the Demos fault...no matter what the facts are (and in a round about way, they're right).

I'm from Loiusiana so I should know better as I routinely see the poorest, most federally dependent(ss,medicare,medicaid,etc....), Mobile home living Whites vote OVERWHELMINGLY in support of the GOP:facepalm: whose whole platform has been to dismantle these programs of FDR & LBJ era that they love.

Like Joe the Plumber they sit in their Trailer parks decrying taxes hikes on millionaires/billionaires(at least according to their votes) all in the name of politics when they don't have a pot to piss in :dunno:......... Because since the 60's(Civil Rights/Voting Rights bills,etc...) they see the Democratic Party as a Party of minorities when they were loyal FDR (big government) Democrats before here in the South.

In defense of Dems it's this same Blind GOP support/ignorance in the South and Bible belt that has them in a precariously weak bargaining position overall. 80% of the public say that SS & Medicare should be left alone and roughly 80% say taxes shuld be raised on the the rich.
You and I both know it's OBVIOUS where each party stands on these issues yet here the Gop gets the White vote overwhelmingly.

How can the Dems make a reasonable case to these people? They aren't listening.

There is a broad swath of voters here in the South/Bible Belt Mega which doesn't listen to the reasonable Dem positon that actually fights FOR THEM(Poor/working class).

Dems are forced to MEEKLY compromise just to keep their legitimatecy in other ares of the country while the GOP/Tea Party can be unreasonably belligerent as they want to be and fear little REPERCUSSIONS here.

What happened to RaginCaucasin?

My responses to those 'questions' should be so predictable for you that I assumed they were rhetorical. That's the reason I didn't bother with continuing to answer obvious questions...

After all, I just said to another poster the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen or Marines who've volunteered and who have no problem picking up arms in every other circumstance but will side with someone or something else in others should be stripped of their citizenship as a consequence of being granted conscientious objector status.

So what was your question again?
