FBI Suspects Link Between Truckers and Serial Killers

LOS ANGELES – The FBI suspects there's a link between long-haul truckers and serial killers, and runs a national program to track murders along popular trucking routes, according to a newspaper report.

The Los Angeles Times reports that federal authorities first made the connection five years ago while investigating a string of unsolved killings along Interstate 40 in Oklahoma and several other states.

After patterns started emerging, the FBI launched the Highway Serial Killings Initiative to track suspicious slayings and suspect truckers.

A computer database now includes more than 500 female murder victims whose bodies were discarded at truck stops, motels and other locations.

i always thought that connection was obvious, they spend a long time driving through the country, alone, attract hookers at truck stops... this is the perfect job for a serial killer.

I am certainly not surprised @ the connection between truckers and serial killers its the perfect camouflage / cover to get away with multiple murders. :eek:

I bet there are way more cases then they (the Law / FBI) can even dream about. :uohs::shock: that has prolly been the MO of most of the Serial Killers for decades.

I am sure most to allot of them have gotten away with their crimes and took their secrets with them to their graves.

Its very uncomfortable for me too say, but I think the Law Enforcement community / FBI are only on the trail of about 15 - 25% of the actual serial killers working as Truckers, if the Serial Killer / trucker is smooth, smart, and fearless, they could've been and can be operating undetected for years gone by and years to come. :shocked::2 cents::hatsoff:
