I knew you knew Leo! I googled my question actually after I put this up and I guess there could be two answers as to why John Agar who was seen as maybe the next John wayne was relegated to B sci-fi movies(which I am happy about BTW lol). Some say it was because he got busted for drunk and driving but I think it was more what happened with his 1st wife america's sweetheart Shirley Temple(who actually got him in movies in the 1st place). He beat Shirley!!!

Edit: DVC just got ya but I owe you rep for knowing the bonus asleep.

Broadway Serenade
Director:Robert Z. Leonard
Jeanette MacDonald ... Mary Hale
Lew Ayres ... James Geoffrey 'Jimmy' Seymou
Ian Hunter ... Larry Bryant

Bonus- Lew Ayres was a conscientous objector. America was outraged, and theaters vowed never to show his films again.

Veronica Lake was asked to change her hairstyle

the guy is the great Alan Ladd

the remaining question is the movie...

I'd say The Blue Dahlia by George Marshall (one of Marlene Dietrich's three favorite directors)
