Some people purposely get fired, just because they can collect unemployment, because it pays better and they get to stay home. I have some neighbors that do that. They're scumbags. When the police roll up on my block, that's the only house they ever go to.
Is there no limit to how long you must keep your job? Seriously though, if there isn't that just sounds like they're screwing over the government and hard working companies. I guess I shouldn't complain though. Life won't be fair in the next 500 years. Why try for it now? Someone will always abuse the system.

If I remember correctly you had to work for atleast 6 months to qualify for unemployment, and UA (unemeployment agency) only pays out a certain percentage of the persons salary ie. say the person made $600 every 2 weeks the UA paid $425 after taxes! those are just guesstimates of course!
I dealt with the experience myself! and the recipiant of the unemployment checks only recieve a check for 90 days or so!! its only short term assistance until you can find another job!
If you don't find another job.. your SOL.. cuz you don't get anymore money from uncle sam!! so trumping the system is only temporary for the most part.. you wont get rich doing it unless of course you started selling drugs or something? :dunno:
p.s. atleast thats the way it worked in Michigan! I am sure every state has a similar system in place so people don't rape the government without even trying to help themselves! :eek:

I once visited a major AOL call center on an integration. Watching the customer support rep employees was like watching high school, and their manager a school administrator. Demerits and general, petty discussions totally left me flabbergasted. I asked the manager what their turnover rate was and it was several times over, with average employee lifespan of only a matter of a couple months.
That's back when I was scrounging more for clients, and took most any paying gig. I'm sure I was getting paid significantly more than the reps that worked there, probably more than the managers on-site too, but it was still an awkward experience. I would make a few more visits to AOL call centers.
At the same time, I did have a hot blonde try to cling to me during a break because she thought I had money. After all, I was wearing a suit. At least until I put my ring back on, as I had taken it off because I was previously working with some A/C (and didn't want to arc my finger off). It's amazing to see some women's attitudes (or men for that matter) when the economy sucks and they see someone with money.
That typically means either the company is not good and does not treat its employees well, or it's a job that plenty of people qualify for but the average employee has poor discipline and that's why they let them turn over regularly.

With that much turnover theres probably a problem with management.If a class of 30 kids all fail a test more than likely its the teacher and not the students.

i have been with my job now for a year and only about 5 people have been fired, that i know of
two guys that worked in one department got fired for eating cookies without paying for them, and all the rest have been girls and they have been fired because they were crappy workers, they never pulled there weight, they were lazy, slow, stupid, and noone liked them
the rest of the people that leave from where i work, they either quit, or they get transfered to another store

Probably not. If you are layed off/let go from downsizing you usually can get unemployment. If you are let go with cause, in most cases the state labor board will fight your application so they don't have to pay.
I think some states are more strict than others.

I work in the restaurant industry, which has nearly a 100% turnover rate. So, to me, it seems like everybody loses their job everyday.

Not to mention the guilt and insecurity you get from unemployment. Yeah.. you can sit on your ass and play video games for days, watch all the movies you want.. but your brain speaks up and says "You didnt earn this. You should be out looking for valid employment. WTF are you level 20 already in Fallout3 already?! GO OUTSIDE AND BUG MANAGERS UNTIL THEY HIRE YOU! It never fails, even in this day and age. They can throw all the online applications, psyche tests, whatever at you.. you can never, EVER beat going in with a smile and asking each manager.. each supervisor if they're hiring, how is everyone doing? Could I see a manager? Thank you.
And the insecurity. Whew. You just dont rest easy when you look at the clock ticking. Hours pass by. Unemployment will end in 2 months.. time passes, 1 month until destitution and homelessness. BOOM! Fucked.
