VICTORVILLE Trevor Neiman of Phelan survived three tours of duty in Iraq as a Marine and a knife attack outside his Phelan home in May only to be killed in a violent hammer attack while on the job as a Charter Cable installer.

Neiman was working at a home in the 15200 block of San Jose Drive near Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive Monday afternoon when Johnny Acosta, 45, of Hesperia beat Neiman in the head with a ball-peen hammer, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials. Acosta fled in a white pick-up truck but later turned himself in to authorities.
