What a dumb ass! This was the dumbest scam I have ever heard of, who thinks of this stuff? She would of been better off slipping on some ice.
The barrier around the fountain is up to her knees

Now the story begins to take shape....just another scam artist. My bullshit alarm went off when I listened to her and watched this as my first thought was, she 'works' in the mall and doesn't know that huge ass fountain is in the middle of it???

Damn! Now I wish she would have tried to file an insurance claim and really got herself in more trouble.:o

Yeah, but....what's the scam? She didn't feign injury from falling, she only filed suit after the video was released.

So, was the scam that she purposely fell and the security guard intentionally released it....indicating a plan by both parties?

I guess that makes sense...I still don't understand why we can hear the security guards on the tape unless the guards were recording the camera footage themselves, 2nd generation. Maybe I missed something...

Most people are fucking retarded.

And I agree, this looks staged or else she would have stormed off the lawyers office in the mall to sue because the mall injured her.

No. Recall...part of her grievance is no one came to her aid. As if the mall security (or otherwise) had a duty to come to her aid and their absence now being grounds for a cause of action. Never mind the fact that she could have been in the process or interested in some sort of other grievance like workers comp. (since she's an employee) or later feign injury after she collected witnesses or whatever. She probably didn't count on the video going viral. Who knows..that could have mucked her plans or added to it.

Either way I don't think she has a leg to stand on or a fountain to fall in with this case.

No, I get that and I agree, this case has no merit, but she didn't file suit until after the video was released. So, if she was scamming the mall owners, she must had had reason to expect that A) she'd be caught on camera and B) it'd be released. Otherwise she would have to feign injury to document her fall.

The footage that hit the web was taken by a security guard's camera. It wasn't even directly from the mall's CCTV feed. It was 2nd gen.

So unless she's in cahoots with whomever took and leaked that footage (who lost their job) I see no scam....just a really stupid woman who saw an opportunity (when the leaked footage went viral) and called an attorney. Maybe it was a really poorly attempt at a scam and this current suit is Plan C, but that requires a lot of speculation without much basis.

The video was posted either the same or following day. Likely ahead of whatever plan she had...You're assuming the video was part of her plan...I don't think it was...It became a different angle IMO.

I think her plan likely involved some accusation the mall authorities failed rendered assistance or that she experienced some injury related to the fall on their property. Both scenarios need more time to develop than it would have taken to post the video...the vid release wasn't part of the plan...just another angle for her to try and exploit after the fact.:2 cents:

Hell, you may be right, who knows. But, if she had no knowledge of video and never filed a complaint or feigned injury and requested medical services (right away), I still don't see the foundation to the scam.

20/20 had a piece about scam artist drifters a few years ago. People who'd "slip" on a supermarket floor. They'd pretend that hey were injured and then they'd sue hoping for a settlement. This might be an attempt to emulate that kind of thing, but if it is, there was some POOR planning involved.

Does anybody remember the woman who sued because she found a severed finger in a Wendy's meal? It turned out that it was a total scam and people went to jail and one of them now has 9 fingers. I guess anything is possible.

I don't think reasonable people ever assume the majority of people who do things like this are brilliant strategists or geniuses to begin with.

She could be on the up and up. However, how is it that a person who works in a mall isn't aware enough of something like a big fountain potentially being in her pathway as she texts? Doesn't add up...well it adds but up and the sum = intentional act IMO.

I don't know what her calculus is...I just look at what seemingly doesn't add up...her somehow being unaware of this fountain, her expectation and grieving over not being assisted, lawyer, etc....

Who knows, she could have contacted the lawyer about about falling in the fountain and the video drops in their lap. Some lawyers never shy away from the limelight and other people's business...no matter how shady.

This woman needs to be slapped with a fry-pan. She was pissed that no one "came to her aid." She asked if it were a senior citizen who fell like that if they would have had the same treatment. No, they wouldn't. Someone would have helped the senior citizen, because the senior citizen wouldn't have been texting.

Lady, you fucking walked into a fountain because you were so fixated on the text message that you couldn't see/hear the huge ass fountain in front of you. If I had seen you do that, I would likely have run up to you and told you that you were a fucking idiot. You'd be lucky if I didn't push your head back under water.

Jebus with a hockey stick. This woman is a waste of fucking skin.
