FoxNews Illegally Downloads "Wolverine" and Reviews It

In love with my hand
How dumb can Fox News Be? And 20th Century Fox is their sister company.

20th Century Fox is working alongside the MPAA and the FBI to track down the person responsible for leaking an early cut of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which could potentially cost the studio millions. So while the search continues, FoxNews' reporter Roger Friedman downloaded himself a copy and reviewed the film on the FoxNews.com website. Here is an excerpt: "Right now, my 'cousins' at 20th Century Fox are probably having apoplexy. I doubt anyone else has seen this film. But everyone can relax. I am, in fact, amazed about how great 'Wolverine' turned out. It exceeds expectations at every turn. I was completely riveted to my desk chair in front of my computer." So according to Friedman, 20th Century Fox has nothing to worry about since he thinks it's a good movie. Too bad Fox doesn't feel the same way. The studio released the following statement: "We've just been made aware that Roger Friedman,

I have no love for the MPAA and RIAA ...

I have no love for the MPAA and RIAA. They have been arguing "piracy" when they've also had the agenda of "control." They've subverted some of our laws and pushed the agenda when it's been less than honest.

But when you use, let alone redistribute, copyrighted material without paying a fee to view or license, then you are pirating. Pirating is always stealing, no matter what excuse you try to make, it's still stealing. It doesn't matter from who or what the justification is.

In the software industry, people pirate software claiming one company stole it from another. Sometimes that may be true. But it's still piracy. If you honestly want to punish one company for stealing the work of another, buy the original developer's product, don't pirate the subsequent company's product.

Again, reward artists, film makers and others who make honest and good products, boycott (including not pirating) others. That's what responsible consumers do. Responsible consumers don't steal anything, they boycott and ignore.

Piracy is at the heart of our commercial issue with the Chinese right now. They just go right into our patent office and yank anything they want to build, without licensing anything. Some people argue some patents are simple and should not have been granted. But there have been plenty of patents granted for original ideas.

Including one of mine, which was ripped by several Chinese firms almost the day after it was issued. Same attitude, and both are wrong.

Looking to go where no FreeOnes member has gone before!
I blame the Duke LaCrosse team for raping Hillary. Twice.

But they didn't do it. The hooker/stripper said she made it all up. So I blame Gorby & Milosevich.

I know this tangent on Duke was meant as a joke.

But regardless of whether they did it or not, the Duke LaCrosse team ...

A. Had their civil rights repeatedly violated, including facing racism (I think the people who did that should have had charges brought against them)
B. Were repeatedly denied due process, both from the prosecution as well as the public
C. The prosecutor was found guilty of prosecutorial misconduct, and I believe he was disbarred by the state (with several other states honoring it)

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
it doesn't really seem like a big deal to me. sure the guy was an idiot, and I don't know why he couldn't have gotten into a test screening if it was his job to review movies, but to sue or fire the guy just for watching an illegal movie, not copying it or distributing it himself, seems pretty harsh.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
I don't think *Intelligence* and *Honesty* are requirements to be considered for any job within Ruppy's empire....

Does Fox ever criticize its own movies? It seems to me that this movie is going to get the **** treatment on Fox anyway...

Maybe someone should research the ratings or "grades" that Fox media persons assign 20th Century Fox films...my guess is they average **** and A grades...

Vince McMahon treats WWE films with Cena or Kane or whomever as **** "Action Thrillers" on his wrestling programming. It's funny to watch how the WWE tries to insulate their films from the broader, critical audience. It's sort of like "Just trust us! We wouldn't film some crappy movie ever. See, there's Cena and Batista at the movie premiere! They love it! It has to be good if HHH just said it was the greatest action thriller ever!"

Fox News/OReilly tries the same insulation technique with his own show. He signs off his show with, "'Cuz I'm LOOKING OUT for YOU" with a big finger point into the Camera. You're really looking out for me, Billo? What are you really saying? That your audience is too sheltered and dumb to think for themselves?

Conspiracy...

Shouldn't Friedman be in trouble for illegally downloading a movie?

I know someone was prosecuted for downloading the Hulk movie.
The same thing should happen to Friedman.

Take a Hit, Spunker!
I have a couple friends at work who want a copy of "Wolverine". I think they'll give a few bucks for it. But if they gave me money for it, and I'm always saying to them don't pay for movies when you can it for free, that would be going against my own principles!

What can I buy for 100 FreeOnes points?
FoxNews and 20th Century Fox are both owned by NewsCorp, so obviously they don't have anything to worry about, but the freelance writer might be fired by FoxNews.

I'm sure it has a lot to do with the terms of his contract. People often forget that.
