Well I am glad that the "true" owners of our economy are confident. People pay close attention to what China has been doing during this "world recession" and how our current administration keeps a whole lot in touch with this country. Sorry to break it down but we are owned by China. There's no U.S.A. anymore.

Geithner Says China Has Confidence in U.S. Economy

June 2 (Bloomberg) -- Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said China, the biggest holder of U.S. Treasuries, has expressed confidence in the U.S. economy and the Obama administration’s actions to fight the recession.

Chinese officials expressed “justifiable confidence in the strength and resilience and dynamism of the American economy,” Geithner said in an interview with state media in Beijing today. He said there will be enough demand for record sales of U.S. debt.

Geithner’s two-day visit to strengthen ties ended with the U.S. announcing that the nations will hold strategic and economic talks in Washington in the week starting July 27. Premier Wen Jiabao called in March for the U.S. “to guarantee the safety of China’s assets” and central bank Governor Zhou Xiaochuan has proposed a new global currency to reduce reliance on the dollar.

I remember old posts guys made that agriculture in the US isn't really something that interests many folks. As in they do not want to work in this field. Now I understand it takes a lot of ranching, As in Americans consume a lot of beef annually and may not be self sufficient.

However why negate one of your country's main advantages. Land. With all the biological research going on especially in the fields of genetics. You'd think it would be a good idea to rapidly develop genetic modified crops. I only say so as to increase production and yields even improve quality. Ensure they are safe to consume naturally etc.

The purpose of this I feel. Surely it has occurred to some? As china's population increases but also its wealth. People are buying more shit. They are eating better too. Would it not be a good idea to strengthen the symbiotic relationship as it shift in somewhat back in the US favour by being a major supplier of China's food? Yes I know they have out sourced in a variety of fields to ensure they don't need anything from the west. But I suspect they could always do with more supply. Along with technology, consumer goods and gadgets(they have failed to reverse engineer through corporate espionage)

Dunno just something I think makes sense. You also create jobs I imagine as a whole new industry takes off....Genetic modified crops.....Fully tested as in a sample group in isolation and done so over a good time period to see the effects on the environment, unforeseen mutations etc.

1-You don't have to worry about pesky things like environmental regulations, labor laws, unions, torts, liability, or things like that
2-You can tell people what they will do for a living
3-You can pay slave wages to your workers
4-You can suppress little things like freedom of speech, assembly, religion, etc

To be honest the U.S.A. uses all those things also. We just do it by proxy and have other countries do our dirty work for us so we can feel better about ourselves all while willingly benefiting from the above.
