Gentleman

Hot Mega

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Is being a "gentleman" passe' or something these days??

Something I notice on many more occasions than I think I should is the lack of what I think should be gentlemanly behavior.

Mainly with what I notice a chick will be toting some guy around in her car they pull into the gas station. The chick gets out and not only pays for the gas but pumps the gas herself while the 20ish y/o guy will be sitting in the passenger seat playing a game on his cell or texting. I've noticed this on many, many, many occasions mainly in So. Cal where I live. Chicks are even pleasantly surprised when you open the door for them nowadays....

I don't think gentlemen call ladies Chicks. I pump the gas for my wife, open doors for her. Some of it can be a society. It might not be cool to do certian thing for you lady.

All women aren't ladies. Using "chicks" as a reference isn't inherently disrespectful in the context of a discussion.

Gentlemanly conduct ended in foreign climes the day the British Empire ended & Johnny Foreigner forgot all we taught him!
It is still prevalent in some areas of Great Britain, well not in The North.

Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.
My mother raised me as a gentleman. Makes all the difference. What some would call "going out of your way" in some places, here for alot of us southern boys in the US, it's force of habit.

You should see the looks I get when I am out to dinner with one or more females being present at the table and I stand up when they get up to go use the ladies room. It's like "what's wrong?". Maybe I'm old school but I was raised to show gentlemanly respect for women....can't get it out of my blood. It's a dying (if not already dead) act of chivalry.

same here. i used to take the bus to work and would get up to give my seat to a woman, but most of them would just give me a strange look, like i'm some kind of weirdo :)

Being cool or "pimp" or a rude dick is more en vogue these days... unfortunately.

I once held a door open for a women. She stood there waiting for me to come through, I said something along the lines of "come through" but she wouldn't, she just stood there not saying anything. It became quite awkward, so I just walked through. I even tried to hold the door again, but no. She just waited until I had taken a few steps and then she went it.

:dunno:

I was wearing my "I am a rapist!" T-shirt that day, so maybe that had something to so with it . . . .
