Gun purportedly used to kill Trayvon Martin disappears from auction site

(CNN)George Zimmerman was set to auction the gun he used to kill Trayvon Martin four years ago, he told a Florida TV station.

But mysteriously, when the auction was slated to begin, the weapon vanished from the website, replaced by a note that read, "Sorry, but the item you have requested is no longer in the system."
Searches for Zimmerman and Trayvon, which earlier Thursday morning had yielded information about the gun and its sale, returned no results.
CNN attempts to reach the auction site were not immediately successful. Reached via phone, Zimmerman told CNN, "Thanks for the call. I'm not speaking to media right now," and hung up.

Well, he keeps making worse and worse decisions.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
The gun Adolph Hitler used to kill himself for 75k several years ago....people collect odd and weird things. I know someone that had one of John Wayne Gacy's clown paintings. How pissed would you be, if it were the gun used to kill a rapper? Is this about a murder weapon, or is the race card getting tossed onto the table again?

The gun Hitler used to shoot himself is an historical item. It got us rid of one of the most horrible human being who ever lived on that planet. Georges Zimmerman's gun is a random gun that was used by a random person to defend his life against an agressor (if you think Zimmerman did nohing wrong) or a gun used by a racist to murder an innocent black kid and got away with it (if you think Zimmerman is a murderer who belongs behind bars).
But Zimmerman ppresent it as if it was an iconic item, "“a piece of American History”. Buying (or trying to) this gun does not by a random gun. He's buying a gun that was used to kill a black kids and get away with it. It's political.

Anyways, du to the reactions to that auction, Gunboker erased it so no one is gonna buy that gun. Zimmerman would keep it and proudly pass it his kids and grand kids

Really?! Because a shitload of people on this board, and all around the country, sure as hell tried to turn it into an historical event. I heard on the local news they plan on sending the gazebo from the park where Tamir Rice was killed, to the Smithsonian, so does that make his BB gun an historical item...or the cops gun, or the police car? Probably not, but I would bet my left nut, that someone would want to buy them, if given the chance. Like I said, people collect freaky shit. I for one would LOVE to have the gun Hitler killed himself with.

Not surprisingly, you are absolutely okay with this.

Just a question of which country you grow up in and what culture you buy in to. If I would have grown up in a country that embraces widespread and almost no-control murder-machine possesion and acceptence of mass shootings being just something that keeps happening, and black unarmed people keep getting killed, hey, I might be as numb as you are.

Playing the race card? Why: Yes, in a way, I am.

Do you get it?

I heard a blurb about that as well, but it's not the case.
Nor as Zimmerman claims is the Smithsonian interested in his "iconic" gun

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
George Zimmerman is an unaccomplished shit stain. Plain and simple. Race aside, the only thing this punk has accomplished in his life was killing a kid who was delivering the ass whooping that Zimmerman asked for. In the Martin incident and in the multiple incidents afterward, Zimmerman has proven that he's a cowardly, little bitch, who reaches for a gun or resorts to erratic, violent behavior whenever he feels that things aren't going his way.

I'm a gun owner. I've been shooting since I was a child. The people who "trained" me in gun safety and shooting were my father and a relative who'd been in the military and law enforcement. I'm an NRA Life Member. Everything about me suggests to some people that I'd be a supporter of George Zimmerman. But I'm ashamed to be in any way linked to George Zimmerman or those of his ilk. One of the problems with modern day America is the pussification of this nation. And the Zimmermans of this world are part of the disease that plagues us these days. My father was born early in the last century... back when men were (still) men. And so he taught me as he was taught: don't let your mouth write a check that your ass can't cash. And if you do, take your beat down like a man. A real man doesn't grab a gun to even the score. But now, we have pussies posing as men. My father could use a gun very well. But he didn't carry one. And neither do I. I will NEVER buy into this new age bullshit that is ruining this society.

Sooner than later, there'll probably be a story in the news about George "Billy Bad Ass" Zimmerman getting laid out in chalk. And while I won't celebrate his death, I probably will smirk. The way I see it, more oxygen for the rest of us.

I won't argue that George Zimmerman is an idiot who has trouble avoiding escalating conflicts with his life possibly spiraling down the toilet. But the real value of George Zimmerman is as a shiny object to avoid talking about the predominant causes and perpetrators of black homicides. How many people in Chicago and other inner cities have been gunned down since the George Zimmerman hand-wringing began? Were those deaths caused by evil gangs of predatory honkeys? Black males don't need to look over their shoulder for George Zimmerman, Officer Darren Wilson, Tom Brokaw, or the media but for other black males who intend to kill them in cold blood. But as long as we have our shiny object George Zimmerman to distract us waving our little race cards with a feeling of moral superiority we won't have to be challenged to deal with the real issue of black homicides. Do black lives matter to even Black Lives Matter? If the politicians care they don't care enough to stick their necks out and wage political collateral.

I'll bid on that asshat's handgun. And then I'll email the Hard Rock Hotel and see if they're interested in getting it for their collection, along with Curt Cobain's shotgun.

Rep due for this post.

Zimmerman is an attention whorer, he has constantly done what he could, to stay in the public eye, and that's exactly why he pulled this stunt. I don't want the piece of shit, it's a Glock! What I think about Zimmerman, or what he did, or did not do is irrelevant, just like whether I am, or am not okay with this. What is relevant about this is, people are attention whores, and there is nothing wrong with selling a gun.

Why anyone is shocked by this, or appalled in any way, is beyond me.

Auction for gun that killed Trayvon Martin possibly hijacked

Bidding in an online auction for the pistol former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman used to kill Trayvon Martin appeared to have been hijacked by fake accounts posting astronomically high bids.

At one point early Friday, the bidding surpassed $65 million with the leading bidder using the screen name "Racist McShootFace." The site later showed that account had been deleted.

Other screen names of bidders on the site included "Donald Trump," ''shaniqua bonifa" and "Tamir Rice," the name of a black 12-year-old who was shot and killed by Cleveland police in 2014 while playing with a pellet gun.

The website for United Gun Group began hosting the auction Thursday after another website, GunBroker.com, took down the auction saying it wanted "no part in the listing on our website or in any of the publicity it is receiving."

Hours later, United Gun Group tweeted that it would post Zimmerman's ad. The new link was posted, along with a statement from Zimmerman. The site calls itself a "social market place for the firearms community."

Bidding on the 9 mm Kel-Tec PF-9 pistol began at $5,000.

Critics called the auction an insensitive move to profit from the slaying.

Zimmerman had told Orlando, Florida, TV station WOFL that the pistol was returned to him by the U.S. Justice Department, which took it after he was acquitted in Martin's 2012 shooting death.

Zimmerman's listing said a portion of the proceeds would go toward fighting what Zimmerman calls violence by the Black Lives Matter movement against law enforcement officers, combatting anti-gun rhetoric of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and ending the career of state attorney Angela Corey, who led Zimmerman's prosecution.

The listing ended with a Latin phrase that translates as "if you want peace, prepare for war."

Zimmerman, now 32, has said he was defending himself when he killed Martin, an unarmed black 17-year-old, in a gated community near Orlando. Martin, who lived in Miami with his mother, was visiting his father at the time.

Zimmerman, who identifies as Hispanic, was acquitted in Martin's February 2012 shooting death. The case sparked protests and a national debate about race relations. The Justice Department later decided not to prosecute Zimmerman on civil rights charges.

Lucy McBath, the mother of another black teenager shot by a white man during an argument at a Jacksonville convenience store in 2012, said the auction reflected a "deplorable lack of value for human life."

"I am deeply disappointed that the man who killed Trayvon Martin is trying to sell the very gun he used to cut that precious life short to raise money," McBath said in a written statement.

The slaying of her son, 17-year-old Jordan Davis, by Michael Dunn drew parallels at the time to the Zimmerman-Martin case. Dunn told police he had felt threatened by Davis. Unlike Zimmerman, Dunn was convicted of murder.

Since Zimmerman was acquitted, he has been charged with assault based on complaints from two girlfriends. Both women later refused to press charges and Zimmerman wasn't prosecuted. His estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, also accused him of smashing her iPad during an argument days after she filed divorce papers. No charges were filed because of lack of evidence. They were divorced in January.

Orlando-based attorney Mark O'Mara has previously represented Zimmerman. A receptionist in O'Mara's office said Thursday that he no longer represents Zimmerman and had no comment.

Martin's parents declined to address Zimmerman's actions in statements made through representatives.

Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, said through an attorney that she would rather focus on her work with the Trayvon Martin Foundation than respond to "Zimmerman's actions."

Daryl Parks, whose firm represented the Martin family during the trial, is now chairman of Fulton's foundation. He says Fulton is pushing for policies that protect youth and address gun violence.

Fulton also founded the Circle of Mothers conference, a three-day event to help mothers who have "lost children or family members" to gun violence. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be keynote speaker at the event in Fort Lauderdale starting May 20.

"What does God require? We've got to be straight up in our community, too. We have to be outraged at a 9-year-old girl killed in Chicago. We have got to be outraged by our disrespect for each other, our disregard for each other, our killing and shooting and running around gun-toting each other, so that they're justified in trying to come at us because some of us act like the definition of blackness is how low you can go. Blackness has never been about being a gangster or a thug. Blackness was, no matter how low we was pushed down, we rose up anyhow. We never surrendered. We never gave up. And now we get to the 21st century, we get to where we've got some positions of power. And you decide it ain't black no more to be successful. Now, you want to be a nig--- and call your woman a 'ho.' You've lost where you're coming from. We've got to clean up our community so we can clean up the United States of America!"

Al Sharpton - August 2014 @ Ferguson

It's actually not uncommon to find this kind of confrontational concern expressed by black leaders. Problem is the media virtually never covers it - even the so called liberal media. But it has been and continues to be an elemental part of the conversation in black communities.

Very true words by Reverend Al. If Mike Brown followed them he would have never been shot. The Black community has to get their act together and not be the cultural laughing stock of America. Even many Black immigrants want nothing to do with African-Americans. They need to rise up on their own two feet because blaming things on Whitey, guns, and lack of opportunity is more giving them an excuse for failure than a pathway to success. Why do Black males hate themselves and each other so much they kill each other in such massive numbers and doing a stretch in prison is just part of the lifestyle? Respect is earned and not doled out like food stamps.

I'd be a lot more sympathetic with their plight if they didn't consistently punch themselves in the face. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/may/19/charles-wade-black-lives-matter-leader-charged-wit/

Let be honest people bitching just because he kill a black dude, so again they play the racist card, so pathetic!

Meh. What can I say? In any activist group, whether it be black, white, liberal, conservative - there are going to be pieces of shit like this guy. Sometimes a whole lot of them. And unfortunately they are undermining forces who tend to get a lot of attention. But as surely as that's the case, it's also certain that there are a lot of very good, earnest and sincere people who are involved with BLM.

Speaking of which, I recently saw a statement from what appears to be their official website that echoes Sharpton's (along with many others) focus on and concern about black on black crime.

No actually. A lot of people are bitching at the moment because he's such a low class piece of crap he's trying to auction the gun he killed somebody with.

What Zimmermann was supposed to do? let that "17 years old kid?" killed him?

Well, he could have simply returned to/sat in his car as he was advised to and let the real police handle the situation. In which cast there'd never have been a killing. But no... apparently Georgie boy had watched a few too many Charles Bronson movies.... :picardfacepalm:
