A remarkable ivory carving is arguably the oldest sculpture of a human figure yet found, scientists say.

The distorted object, which portrays a woman with huge breasts, big buttocks and exaggerated genitals, is thought to be at least 35,000 years old.

Just goes to show where men's eyes are drawn to, it having such a small head. Though that would be drawing conclusions, as it was a pendant.

It does give you an insight into the nature of the mind of man back then. It would seem that we really have not changed that much :D Yes we're more evoled in some ways, but those old animal insticts are still there.

Although does anyone else think the statue looks like a roast chicken? Yummy.

Hm, I don't want to sound patronizing, but I think the gibbonic historian has to step in here. ;)
These sculptures (the new one discovered by the archaeologists of Germany's famous Tübingen University is just one of many) portray (mostly) naked, voluptuous women, because they were considered symbols of fruitfulness, prosperity and fertility. This sculpture was not the spawn of a filthy mind nor should it be considered stone age pornography. ;)
Like the large paintings of hunting scenes are not supposed to be action movies, but depictions of everyday scenarios of survival, "food acquisition", social events and the supremacy of man. Early history books so to speak.
