"gonzo" porn?

they call the real hardcore smut "gonzo porn" i was just wondering where that term came from. this mupphet is Gonzo..... what's the connection?

I believe it is derived from the work of Hunter S. Thompson, a journalist in the 60s-70s, whose most famous work is the brilliant Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas. His character was called Dr.Gonzo, and later his style of work became known as Gonzo journalism. Its something to do with actually living what you are writing about I think. So, theoretically, gonzo smut is when the guy directing is the guy shagging. I think... Still doesnt exactly explain the gonzo reference though.

However, www.gonzo.com gives the following deifinition...

GonZo: Pronounced - "gon'zoh"
Overwhelming; outrageous; over the top; very large. [Hunter S. Thompson]
