Great News. Unemployment is way down!

According to the GOV as reported in an unbiased fashion by the Huffington post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/10/december-jobs-report-unemployment-rate_n_4570422.html

this confirmed what Barry said right before he went to Hawaii a few weeks ago.

I was happy to read this.

Then i read this:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-...million-participation-rate-plunges-1978-level

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs...ed-nearly-5-people-left-workforce_774106.html

And I was like, " Hey now". "Maybe it was the cold weather"
Then I realized that Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years should have helped, and that it wasn't really that cold the past few months.

Then I watched this video
Which didnt really tell me much i didnt already know.

Sarcasm ceased, I"m in NJ. i see it all over the place. People , most young able bodied male and female who just don't work but survive just fine with full medical benefits ( And taxis to drive them to the DR.).
These people arent part of the labor force, I figure if its in NJ its all over the US.

So Obama has helped Unemployment, if youre an idiot.
It actually makes me sick when I think how he can address WE THE PEOPLE and lie and say how its improving when clearly it aint.
And when this affordable care act really starts to hit home ( literally) and affect businesses even more negatively than it already has how much worse will it get?

Is it 1929 again?

Repost of article above:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-...million-participation-rate-plunges-1978-level

According to that there are now 154.9 million Americans in the labor force.
These are the humans who work and pay taxes which keeps EVERYTHING running. Who prevent the country from falling.
But there are 91.8 million who dont work nor pay taxes? Actually more I would think because many of the 154.9 arent currently employed, just counted as part of the workforce.
Many of them Im assuming arent independently wealthy therefore many/most must be surviving off the 154.9 millions who are working and paying " Their fair share".
( how much ya wanna bet at least 9 out of 10 of them who vote vote democrat?)

How is this sustainable? I'm far from an expert but doesnt a countrys overall prosperity depend on a working society who pay taxes and spend money? How long can this continue?

If you answer, please dont answer like this:

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
No offense intended, but anyone who says that the macro economy (including the unemployment situation) of the United States has not improved over the past 5 years clearly does not understand even the basics of macro economics or unemployment. Are we in an ideal situation? No, not by a long shot. But has anyone (anyone, anyone... Bueller???) said that we are? Not to my knowledge. But then again, I live in the real world, not the Fox News/TEA Party Express world. One of the biggest concerns that faces us (IMO) is the declining labor force participation rate. At roughly 63%, it now stands at a 35 year low. But contrary to what is being reported by people who tend to spin things, the labor participation rate has been in decline since about 2001. It got worse during the Great Recession and has yet to recover... as most other parts of the economy have done. One factor affecting this is the aging baby boom population is beginning to retire and that is removing many people from the labor force. But that is only one factor. Another is the inability of people to find jobs (that suit them or that they're qualified for) and once their benefits run out, many tend to stop looking for work. That lowers the unemployment rate and the labor participation rate. I haven't double-checked the stats, but one report I read stated that about 60% of the decline in the unemployment rate for last month came from a drop in labor participation. And as has been stated, yes, that is a problem. Unfortunately, no one (neither the Blue team nor the Red team) seems to have any ideas on what to do about that. Maybe the librarian who checked out Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham to Ted Cruz, so he could read Sam I Am on the Senate floor, got to keep her job - but that's about as much as the fake fiscal conservatives have offered. IMO, had Obama and the GOP maintained targeted tax breaks for American manufacturing (allowing them to continue taking accelerated depreciation on plant and equipment), favored American based business in government bids (screw the WTO) and put more financial incentives in place for people (employed and especially unemployed) to advance their qualifications through technical training, the unemployment rate would have fallen even further and the labor participation rate would likely be higher than it is now. And yeah, I also believe that certain government programs (especially Social Security Disability) are in need of MAJOR reforms. Taking a sharp knife to the Defense Dept. is also needed. But Obama and the GOP have ignored the need to find real solutions to real problems. Both are simply playing to their respective bases these days. If I hear one more story about gay marriage, potheads, abortion, ObamaCare, Israel or make-believe misogyny... I think my head will explode. :hairpull: These superficial soup du jour fascinations have little to do with what affects the lives of average Americans.

But anyway, here is a fact (not spin): it was reported in December that U.S. job openings (3.93 million) and the number of people quitting jobs hit a 5 year high. Not since May of 2008 have those stats been that high. My guess is, the December job gains number may be an outlier/statistical anomaly. As best I can tell, and is suggested by other statistics, the trend of improving employment is still in place. But 3.93 million job openings in the U.S.? How could this be? Why aren't more people working? One (among many) reasons is that employers are being very choosy in who they hire these days. Age, lack of education/skills, bad credit history, length of joblessness and other factors make it harder than it used to be for many who want jobs to get jobs. Some of those factors have fixes, while others do not.

Lastly, could the government, apart from the Fed (which is the only govt. body, IMO, that doesn't seem to have its head completely up its political ass right now), do more? Yep, I think so. But also, could the people of this nation be preparing themselves for the jobs of the future better? Absolutely! If you can barely add & subtract and your idea of standard English sounds more like something from a cartoon, why exactly do you think you're going to get hired in this competitive environment??? That's especially true of young people now. What?! You mean you expect me to show up on time for work every day? And you're not going to pay me $50 grand a year to move cardboard boxes from one side of the warehouse to the other? And I can't take an hour break every 2 hours?! Slave driving fuckers! I'll just live with Mommy & Daddy til I'm 40! So it's not just the government that is to blame.

Will strip for money!
I feel opinionated today. Rey C gets an A in Economics. Bobjustbob gets an A in SMB Economics.

Perception is from a personal view, so how you rate the economy may be influence by your own situation or other politic things that you're rooting for. However, Rey is right.

One other point is that the market has basically returned to normal. Why? My assessment is that because "the market" sees stability. Not in Obama's leadership so much as the gridlock with Congress. No change is typically good for the market.

Feel free to state how the economy is affecting you, but to Rey's point, don't let that get in the way of facts.

Too much of this attitude prevalent amongst the "proletariat". Plus, it's a damn good classic R & B tune:

good song. i remember when i heard it on the radio every day.......for like 10 years
however , maybe i'm overanalizing it a bit but isnt he somewhat of a scumbag?
i mean here he is way behind on his rent and instead of trying to speak with lovey dovey and maybe give here a few bucks instead he goes to a bar and gets loaded until last call for alcohol........probably spending his last red cent on the bourbon, scotch and the beer.
And personaly I dont blame the good friend down the streets ya know for not letting him stay with him maybe a couple a days.
At least kinda funny had some sense you know.
You let a guy like that stay with you and you never get him out. Next thing you know theyre stealing your crap, eating your food, running up your phone bill and utilitys, having every scumbag in the neighborhood in your house doing bong hits on your couch while your at work, asking your wife to scratch his back, then when you finally get them out they call the cops on you.
YEAHHHHHHH!

Yep, that's pretty much it. I know tons of people who create their own bad fortune by making bad choices. Then, they blame others for their shitty lot in life....it's never them at fault. Always some asshole boss, bitch wife or girlfriend, so-called friends....whoever. They never take responsibility for their own lives. Of course it's not everyone but, believe me, I know a good number of people who fit this mold. I say....you made your own bed....now go sleep in it.
