Instead, the biggest sharks identify a location from which to strike, and then search the surrounding killing zone for their next victim

I read this on Yahoo earlier today and I couldn't help noticing the "academic snark" offered up by the Univ of Florida professor that the Yahoo article quoted, as he commented on the work of his Miami colleague. I guess the rivalry between Univ of Miami and Univ of Florida is on!

The article makes the Great White even more awesome, if that was actually possible...

Well it stands to reason, if you're gonna out live everyone else, and eat regular meals...you better know where the grub is, and how to get it. I can't wait until they develop lasers....

I have this vision in my mind, of a group of sharks huddled around a blackboard, with one of them chalking an 'attack' plan on it..

Boss shark: "Right lads 'eres the plan.. Snapper 'n' Finn, you two are to chase the bleeders into this ere shallow bit of water..."
Snapper: "Right Boss.."
Finn: "Right Boss..."
Boss shark: Me an old Jimmy Gumms, will wait in this gulley an' pounce on 'em... any questions?"
Jimmy Gumms: "Yeah, I'm not that keen on seals.. can I 'ave some jellied eels instead...?"



Of course, I may be wrong about them using a blackboard and chalk.. but the rest of it is quite accurate.
