Gym Teacher Throws Mexican Flag into Trash Can

The teacher said he took it away to prevent a possible problem. OK....so give the fucking flag back to the kid after class was over. To throw it in the trash was more than a convenient way to "dispose" of the flag....it was the teacher's way to show that free expression of love for a flag other than the US will not be tolerated. I see this kind of bigoted stuff all the time here in Texas. Fuck....it was fucking Cinco de Mayo! Let him celebrate his heritage!!!

You ever been to another country? Have you seen the American flag in said country, whether it was in an American hotel, embassy, business, etc? What did you think about that? Did it bother you that another country should be flying your country's flag? Somehow, I highly doubt it.

The issue here isn't whether it was a Mexican flag or an Armenian flag. The issue here is that there is some bigoted asshole who decided to show that other countries are worthless. It wouldn't surprise me if Mr. Adolf, or whatever the fuck is the teacher's name, was a member of the KKK, seeing how Idaho is one of the states with the highest number of KKK members. This guy's action was unjustified; if the flag was indeed causing a distraction in class he should have asked the student to put it away.

He may or may not have handled the situation wrong. He very well could have asked the student to put the flag away, we don't know cause that little tid bit of information is conveniently left out! Helps to demonize the guy more. Regardless, him being a teacher, he has every right to do what he feels is necessary to avoid distraction in the classroom!

As for going to another country, if they fly the american flag in the embassy that's one thing. But I wouldn't go to mexico and wave the american flag around! Like here, do we have a mexican embassy? I dunno, but if we do they can fly their flag there. Just like speaking fucking english! You wanna speak your jibber jabber then do it in the privacy of your own home. Out in public you speak motherfuckin english!!!

If the teacher put the flag in the garbage because the student was causing a disturbance with it or trying to invoke a problem then he was justified.
If he put it in the trash because it was Mexican then thats very different.
At this point, after the fact, it should be forgotten because there is no way to prove teachers thoughts at the time.

I read the article, and I don't really see what the big deal is all about. It sounds to me like the teacher just chucked a flag. I don't think it was malicious. What if he'd chucked an Irish flag or a German flag...hell, even a Ghanian flag? I doubt there would be all this commotion.

As for the flag, I kind of agree with the "Mexican flags are for Mexico" arguement, but the way to solve this is not putting it up in the first place, or just taking it down. Ripping it down and throwing it in the bin is taking it way too far and the guy definately needs to be fired.

Well, as someone who lived in Mexico City on and off for 13 years, I can assure you that nobody gave us any kind of trouble when we flew the American flag at my house. In fact, none of my schoolmates who flew the flag of their country of origin got any kind of grief from anyone else, and in my school there were people from all over the world, not just Americans, even though it was an American school, which, coincidentally, flew the American flag.

Like here, do we have a mexican embassy? I dunno, but if we do they can fly their flag there.

Why, as a matter of fact, there is a Mexican embassy, just like there are embassies from all other countries that the US has diplomatic ties to, in Washington DC, just like in many other foreign countries' capitals. Also, there are consulates, which are like little embassies, scattered throughout the US, and in other countries as well, in cities that don't happen to be the capital of the country. And, guess what? It's not only Mexico that has said diplomatic establishments in other countries, but many other countries have these "embassies", which are exempt from the host country's laws, since they are considered to be a part of the delegating country, in countries that they have diplomatic agreements with.

I'm sure that would be a great tourism slogan. In my earlier scenario of you going to another country, I assume you had to learn the language before you got off the plane, as I'm sure nobody in the country knew a word of English, correct?
