Why do I have to do that? You said right here in black and white the CIA had admitted it. Which means you must have seen something to that effect.

I never have, I've also just looked, so I was hoping that as you had made this claim in this post as an offer of proof of the government's control of the media and, thus, Charlie Sheen's rough treatment by said media, you'd actually be able to back it up.

Seems to me an admission like that would be somewhere on the Internet.

No, this is a good thing. Problems were arising due to hijacking of other threads, so I made a nice padded thread so Charlie's political beliefs could be mulled over without fucking up an older, better thread.

I also thought it might be good to actually try and dissect some of these theories in a flame-free environment.

Bench test them, as it were.

Surely you can see how major media is completely controlled through teleprompters. Even the gestures and facial expressions of the teleprompter readers and emphasis on certain words etc, is completely planned and the people are trained as such.

I don't dispute there are spies and operatives in the Media. There have always been spies and operatives in the media. It's perfect cover for one. Secondly as both activities revolve around the acquisition, dissemination and utilization of information, there's a clear sympatico.

But.

Just because there are spies in the media, it doesn't don't make all media spies. (or, if you like. I drive a black Volvo XC90. Does that make all Volvos black, or all black cars Volvos?)

I'll go you one further, but it's the same logic. Let's assume the government does control the top echelons of, say, the top five news networks and newspaper s.

That still requires that every journalistic employee of each organization also go along with being puppets in the puppet show. Now, I think the one thing we can agree on is that the odds of that happening are rather insignificant. Add to that, that assuming there was a shadow control arm running the media, I'd posit that by now one - just one - reporter or anchor would have refused to cooperate and done what they do best. Made news.

Given that all meeja whores love nothing more than thrashing their colleagues and competitors, we start to get into the realms of science fiction in terms of the odds against this reality you argue for being ABLE TO exist.

It's called Compartmentalization, a long word I know. The very top of the media are all 100% aware of their position and are complicit in the massive conspiracy to mislead the public on key issues. The lower minions never get put into a position of any real power for example sports broadcasters, weathermen etc. You can damn well bet Bill O'Rielly, Hannity, Beck, olberman are all very much controlled and compromised with blackmail should they ever get out of line.
