Oh, how happy he would be that the only musical fact in the news of his death would include:
"Lane famously penned the band's biggest hit "Cherry Pie" back in 1989 ... before eventually leaving the band to pursue a solo career. "

I remember hearing an interview where he said something like:

"The album was supposed to be called Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was already decided. At the last minute they tell me they wanted one more song and so I wrote off Cherry Pie within like a minute basically as a joke without giving a fuck, just to shut them up, figuring it was so bad that it wouldn't even make the album. Suddenly I'm told the album's called Cherry Pie, the lead single is Cherry Pie, I'm judging Cherry Pie eating contests, everything about me's Cherry Pie, I'm "the Cherry Pie guy"...I could put a fucking gun in my mouth for writing that song."

I was never a huge Warrant fan but the news of him dying still made me a bit sad. RIP Jani Lane

Rest in peace. As a guy who was born in '91, Warrant is one of the first bands that come to mind when hearing the phrase "hair metal."
