help me, remembering what game i am thinking of please

i can picture this game in my mind, but i cant think of the name of it, and it is driving me crazy

in this game the object is to hit a ball of a paddle and break the bricks above

i remember that there were a few different versions of the game and in one of the versions you were able to create your own levels

and when you hit certain bricks you could get prizes such as more balls, a bigger paddle, guns on your paddle, more balls or your ball could even become fire and just go right through all the bricks

sometimes the prizes were bad, like making your paddle smaller or making your ball really small, or making your ball go really really fast

i remember playing this game between 2000-2003 when i was in highschool

does anyone know what game i am thinking off?

In the greatest hits collections sometimes they remake the game in 3D, or make a circle in the middle and you have a tougher time protecting it as the ball can bounce from any/all sides. Try gamefaqs and the greatest hits from.. well shit.. who made it? Namco or Midway. They'd sell it waaaaay cheap these days. Picked up an 'arcade treasures' disc for gamecube with MK2, MK3, total carnage, rampage world tour, NARC, Xenophobe, Hard Drivin' and a half dozen other games I never really played back when. Gaming friggin' goodness!
