History Channel's Clash of the gods.

Will E Worm

Conspiracy...
Tolkien's mythology was tonight's episode.

I guess Star Wars will have an episode as well.

That episode will have to more than an hour.

I didn't watch it. Kind of forgot about it. I knew it was about Tolkien's work. I don't see how that fits into what the show is based off of. Seems like the show to capture more audience.

The replay is on in about two hours.

Since he mixed mythology I guess it could fall into the category.

Mythology of the World might have been a better title.

I thought about that regarding the whole myth and world. Though the fact they are using it off of his works, I find it to be a more promotional gimmick to draw more people in, or else they would have gone the real world route and what they have been doing.

I did get to see Odysseus today. That was grand :D

I watched half of it so far, I will finish it up tonight maybe. It is ok. I kind of wish they used someone else to play as Thor because he did not come off like Thor at all. He seems like a goof acting tough.

A lot of parallels, though, big time I noticed.

Then again I like ancient Greece and Roman history and mythology the most.

Did it live up to your expectations Will E.?

It was alright.

Thor dressed as Freyja was funny.

If Thor was a "god" then how can he be killed?

Their pantheon wasn't that impressive. At least the way it was portrayed.

Freyja should be a warrior.

The "Christians" they showed were Catholics.

Where was Thor's Chariot?

Thor travels in a chariot drawn by goats Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr.

Yeah. I stopped half way through, I don't know if it a midday bore of watching or what. Sometimes at night I am enthralled better than watching it in the day.

Either way, I like how Christians are always confused with Catholic church 'organized' decisions. As if they are the same... then explain the use of the inquisition and infallibility of the popes, especially compared to the death and destruction of lowercase "g" type gods

I digress, though, it is the same god in the sky father and earthly mother derivative of most pagan religions when it comes to earthly gods in mythology. I am surprise to see there is not the mother and infant statue of Thor somewhere to go along with what's been a custom since Tammuz and Semiramis.

I was watching mainly for Viking history regarding their customs of Thor. Which the ship thing where they would drop the pillars of Thor to keep them save in the waters during travel.

You mean you don't like how the Catholics are called Christians.
Because they aren't. ;)

Did you watch Zeitgeist and get confused?

Zeitgeist Part One Exposed: The Film 1/8

The Viking history was good too.

These shows could easily be two hours long.

I'll be honest I never watched that film [Zeitgeist]. I've heard of it I know. I might check it out if it is worth a watch. At least on YouTube. :dunno:

And thank you for the correction, good sir. :hatsoff:

They could be a multiple series if they really wanted to get down to the plethora of information on just one of their subjects! Kind of a PBS-esque series. But people would be turned off if they realized it isn't mythology entertainment and an actual history lesson. Bah on education!

I just found this one to be kind of spotty in a sense. I kept thinking of other common parallels and where a lot of the mythology derives from, and kept thinking, they could put a whole lot of clearing up facts in this big time!

You're welcome. ;) Yes, it is on youtube. Watch the video I sent you, it's a mulit-part video. Keith Truth has a lot of good videos he made himself and a new one coming out soon.

I know, "bah" on education. At least the indoctrination education from the government schools.

People need to learn more. I don't see it happening.
They are too happy with their reality shows and gadgets.

A Ken Burns type Mythology series? ;)

Hypergalaxy

Fuck the rest, Freeones is the best!
Just got into this show and IMO one of the best shows on tv.
If anyone else is just now getting into it you can go on to your on demand menu and all the episodes are on there

I wonder how many know who Ken Burns is, to be honest. They see his Gettysburg video and wonder why there isn't much rap and hip hop culture in it. Because they do not know the difference between Gettysburg and Ghetto Burg. Perhaps his WWII documentary, and when they realize it is nothing like their Call of Duty games, thus all interest is out the window. For shame, how dare I speak in such a sardonic manner!

I will check out Zeitgeist when I can sit down and watch the whole thing in one sitting! :D

Indeed! Or since it is History Channel you know they will play it day and night and marathons on the weekends!

I watched the first episode. It was OK, but a bit lightweight & felt extremely low budget & there was far to much repeated footage in the 're-enactments'. The BBC can do these historical docudrama things a lot better!
I will watch the other episodes though, well apart from the Lord of the Rings one!

Well, there were a couple of inexcusable errors in the Hercules one (which was understandably a truncated retelling of his labours & didn't mention that it was 10 originally with a couple added on), Atlas didn't hold up the earth but the heavens. & more importantly the Greeks called him Heracles not bloody Hercules!!!

ChefChiTown

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
I'm a HUUUUUGE fan of Greek Mythology, so I'm pretty interested in this series. The only thing is...they miss A LOT of important parts of the stories that they tell. I mean, I know they can't tell the whole entire story of each individual figure in mythology, but they certainly miss a lot of very, very important aspects of each story.

I think the series is done now? or just the season?

Probably the season. Seeing they involved Lord of the Rings. I am sure they will speak of Resident Evil exploits. Dracula. Frankestein. And other frivolous crap.

Who knows. I am merely being cynical in a sardonic way. :dunno:
