Cured in this patient, that's the main thing people should focus on (if it indeed turns out to be a real breakthrough). The thing about HIV is once it enters a new host its genome mutates - which is the reason a vaccine against it is so difficult to manufacture. The question to ask here is whether or not these researchers have been able to program these cells to recognise the certain constants within the molecules genome that keep the virus such a threat or have they just programmed them to recognise this individuals strain of HIV, which of course requires further reading, but at this hour it'll have to wait until the morning.
This is by no means an out and out cure. But it's a huge step in the right direction - if of course, as I must stress again, the research is genuine.
