Hollywood and Movie Trivia Thread

Hot Mega

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Post the useless but interesting to know movie junk here if you know any...

* Irving Rhames was nicknamed "Ving" by his former roommate Stanley Tucci while they were studying at SUNY Purchase.

* "Beverly Hills Cop" producer Jerry Bruckheimer graduated from Mumford H.S. in Detroit, hence the "Mumford Phys. Ed" t-shirt Eddie Murphy wore (for days) in the movie.:2 cents:

If I had a my Freeones account, I would have just gotten 25 points!
Question is, what is worthy of posting?
I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the idea of this thread, but you can find most of the stuff on imdb.com or somewhere else on the net anyway.

Well, let's see how many people knew/read this already...

  • Tom Selleck was originally cast for the role of Indiana Jones but had to decline because he was shooting Magnum.
  • Jean-Claude van Damme was originally cast to play the Predator. Officially van Damme left because he was unhappy, unofficially he was dropped and Kevin Peter Hall was hired when the first costume design was scrapped (because it was really bad) and the Predator was remodelled and "up-sized".
  • Stan Winston and James Cameron were on the plane together one day (working post-production for "Aliens"), the production of "Predator" had just started and Stan Winston couldn't come up with a decent design idea for the Predator's head and face, when Cameron jumped in and had an idea. The design they came up with together would then become the Predator we know from the movies.
  • The quote Let's get outta here! is the most frequently used "catchphrase" in Hollywood movies between 1939 and 1975 and is still used today (in it's original form or slightly modified) regularly especially in comedies and action movies. It's one of the most prominent examples of how movies or tv shows have left their mark in everyday language and expressions. But if you'd guess, that this sentence may originate from some very early action or war movie, you'd be be completely wrong. It's actually from The Wizard of Oz.
