No- not the pornstar...the city!! Headed there in July- never been there. A Houston virgin so to speak. Whats the best spot for bars? I'll be staying Downtown..is the railway nice? Any bars by Minute Maid Park? What's the best "local" restaraunt for BBQ or "Tex-Mex"- what is Tex Mex???

Downtown has a major Club and Restaurant thing in the area north of center Downtown...there are redone areas there, and the neighborhood West of Dwntwn is full of great music, food, alcohol and interesting people...then again, I think Houston is the 6th largest city-lots of stuff going on from center town to Galveston, Kemah, and many places on the Coast.
Houston has a good economy and lots of people from everywhere, and many upper income youngsters live and play in the Downtown/Montrose /Heights area.
Way too much fun...!
Tex Mex is great Mexican food in the Texas style...Taco Bell was inspired by Tex-Mex; lot's of great but cheap Tex-Mex cafes and restaurants, and ton's of other styles of BBQ, Steak, and Seafood restaurants...

The time I went there I had dinner at a place called Trail Dust Steakhouse. It was fucking awesome! Just don't wear a tie, as they'll be happy to snip it off for you and hang it on their wall.

There are literally hundreds of great restaurants in Houston; the city is over 50 miles from center to city limits North, South, East, and West...there is no one place that has the best Tex-Mex, BBQ, or Texas steak and seafood...there are tons of clubs, bars, Clubs...I can say with confidence... just head in a direction, and you'll get there.

Lots of good stuff in the Richmond-Westheimer area near the Galleria as well. And actually, Houston is the 4th largest metro area in the USA so there are plenty of places to go and things do do....bars, restaurants.....oh, an if you're into this sort of thing, the classiest titty bars you've ever been to.....gorgeous women. At least that's what someone told me. :1orglaugh
