Hi I got virus, please help.

The virus close down my antivirus. So what do I do ?

Norton Internet Security 2010 starts up but after a few minuts it close down and I can't open it again, before I reset the computer. I tried to scan and it find trojan.lodeight.c. after a few seconds it close my antivirus down :-(

I also have program called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, this program I can also not open anymore and if I google it and try to open the homepage for this program then it close down the page.

Please help ?

Take the computer out back, put a bullet through its hard drive and then burn its remains in a little ceremony surrounded by all of its friends and well wishers, that's all that can be done.

Remember Old Yeller? That bitch had a virus too. Now look at it.....

Run you computer in safe mode with networking. Then try and access the web for help, downloads, run av, etc.:2 cents:

trojan.lodeight.c isn't the (main) problem (although it might be the cause), since all it does is the following:

Trojan.Lodeight.C
Risk Level 1: Very Low

Discovered: July 5, 2006
Updated: February 13, 2007 12:57:19 PM
Type: Trojan Horse
Systems Affected: Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP

Trojan.Lodeight.C is a Trojan horse that opens a back door on the compromised computer and downloads remote files.

I suggest you download hijackthis, run the program & post the results on a forum/message board dedicated to such problems.

The people that visit that forum/board might be able to help you further.

Hmm...wouldn't that be too time consuming for hit or miss results? Even if a registry entry were revealed sometimes by hjt you still might not be able to "fix" it there nor stop it from reinserting from some restore point. Of course you could temporarily turn of system restore but it would just seem to be more steps in what should be a 3 or 4 step process IMO.:dunno:

I can't really help this time round but for future reference it's always a good idea to store data and software on different hard drives so if you have a software problem that you can't fix all you have to do is format the hard drive with the software and re-install.

No but the people on the other forum might know (from experience or thanks to the log) what virus/program/bug/malware/relatively harmless file is affecting his computer & might thus be able to tell him what to do. (it's essentially the same thing you said in your previous post (check the internet for a solution), except that the first thing people ask for on said forums is usually a hijackthis log, so why not make a log before you ask for their help?)

Download this free Anti-Virus software and see if that helps

Er...they guy says he can't open certain pages, etc. Not sure what his ability is right now to d/l and/or install other s/w. So...the first thing I would do is operate from safe mode before anything.

From there I might attempt to install Adaware or Spybot and run in an effort to stop whatever's keeping me from accessing various webpages during normal windows operation.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
It sounds much like what I had about a year and a half back. It prevents your anti-virus from working, prevents it from updating, displays strange Google links (that are spam or other nasty installs) and won't let you visit sites that are anti-virus related (like TrendMicro).

Oh, it's a good one (can't recall the name of it right now). Even the IT guy where I worked couldn't do anything for my computer. I had my files already backed up, so the only practical option I had was to reinstall Windows. You Might try to save any important files you have that aren't backed up already. But put them on a drive that you can quarantine until you can scan them, after doing the reinstall (if that's the route you choose).

Good luck. This is why I was amazed at the guy on here who said that he didn't run an anti-virus program. Porn sites, especially, are eaten up wth viruses and the like. Even with good protection, you often run across something. But without it, you're living on borowed time.

Hi everybody, thanks for all your help

I found a program that removed a file called flec003 and some other files. After that I could use norton again and I think the virus is gone

Some guys from BullGuard did also help over the internet. I think I will shift to BullGuard they are not closed in the weekend like Norton is.
