I have a dilemma...need an opinion or two

So there is this girl I work with who I really like. We've been talking steadily on messenger for a few weeks now (its hard for us to talk at work...its loud and we work on opposite sides of the plant ). I just recently discovered through a mutual friend that she got back with her boyfriend but here is the kicker: Her boyfriend is a long distance relationship and he lives over seas. She hasnt seen him in like 3 years (hence why the broke up in the first place). Now my usual stance on these kinds of situations is to back off. I never go after a girl who already has someone but because it's a long distance relationship (and the fact that they would barely see each other) I still want to pursue her because I've liked her for awhile now and we seem to have a whole shit load of things in common. Is this a good idea or a bad idea?

Something I'm unsure of. When we talk on messenger, there is never a shortage of things to talk about. I don't want to wait too long though and get the "we're just friends" line. Seems to be my unlucky line as of late lol.

Chatting on messenger is nothing. Make you move, ask her for a date, get to know if, to her, you're more than just a friend. If she's ok for your relationship to go further of if she wants things to stay this way.

If she want the relation shipo to go further, then it will be time to get to know if you're just a substitue that will be dumped as soon as her boyfriend will be back in town or if you're the new boyfriend and the old one can go get a new girl.
