Incidentally, the name "Detroit River" has its origins in the French term for the waterway, Rivière du Détroit Sans Poursuivant, arguably translated into English as River of the Strait, No Chaser, though some would contest that it actually was derived from an often heard phrase commonly used by card-playing gamblers on both shores of the river.

As an aside, the Detroit River (those miscreants to the South insist upon referring to it as the Windsor River...

...) is an excellent starting point to procure your own representative sample of the ficus benjamina, the Plant of Pornography: work your way up from the bank of the river towards developed areas of bordering communities, and continue on the paved roadways where, eventually, one will come across a garden center, nursery, florist shop, hardware store, etc. They usually have those plants in stock, and in various container sizes.
