In your example, 'sex' is used in idiom form, not verb form (sex in verb form means to ascertain the sex of a subject)

You have (hah) to use it in the form of a present participle: I am having sex, i am having fun. Which gives you the correct continuous form.

I never agreed with use of participles in English— it reeks of the Latinate for one, and it's still two words. If you were going to merge them, "I am havingsex now with my hand as I type," for example, you might have a leg to stand on.
