iMac

Windows rules!!! Macs are great, but they're terribly over-priced for the average home computer user, IMO. Apple should start investing all the assloads of cash they're charging for over-priced iPods (crap) and invest it into making more affordable Mac computers. :thefinger lol

Imagine buying a CD player and having to wait a year to have your favorite band's new release to become available to play on your CD player while everyone else has a different CD player, enjoying the music (the same way you would in the same quality, or better), WAAAAAAYYYYY before you can even get your hands on your fave band's CD. I don't think so...

Sorry, Tachi, Axxx, and BNF. We're gonna have to agree to disagree. ;)

:ban: LOL

BTW Any Mac actually has resale and trade in value - try that with a PC.

I've almost reached 2,000 posts without ever using Search!

The government did it.
I have got to put my :2 cents: into this one.

I have worked with computers since I graduated college in 1993, and I have discovered one thing.. Windows and its PC's SUCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKS
I spent a good part of 4 years supporting users with Windows PC's and all their garbage. I have never seen such an illogical OS in my entire life, andd when it crashes for no reason mind you. That just takes the cake, the Dr Watson erros that NT used to get.....ughhhhh. The infamous BLUE SCREEN of DEATH is always a wonderfull thing and until XP came along any changes you made needed to fully reboot the system....:wtf: is that? Since that time I worked on Windows servers(more junk), I migrated over to UNIX servers  And the one thing I will tell you is PC's suck, MAC's rule. MAC's are more intuitive than a pc, they almost NEVER crash, and just overall make more sense than a pc does. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER go back to a PC, if I want to play games that's what Playstation 2's and XBoxes are for, turn it on slide the disc in and away you go, no worries if it wont install right and etc etc etc and the graphics are no more superior gamewise on a PC vs a gaming system.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now....

My only issue with mac is that if you get one, make sure you get the latest model. The Mac generaly runs better than a PC but they don't support their old models like PCs do.

Re: iMac BUMP

Since you didn't mention games, and since I could care less about games, I've nothing to say on that issue.
Me neither.

For surfing the net, it is a superior machine - period. No spyware, trojans or viruses.
Exactly ! :yesyes:

I've never ever received any of the germs that often infect PCs

I changed my middle-name to Freeones
Werd... I have a 15" MacBook Pro, had it for over a year, no problems at all!

I got mine when they were released (late 2005 ? / early 2006 ?)

The thing just goes and goes and goes, has never been infected w/ a virus.

We're completely satisfied, & will buy another.

I have nothing against windows / PC, I'm just used to Apple.
Since I'm not a computer techy, there can't be any hasles, the system has to perform and the iMAC does.

FreeOnes is pumping through my veins!
I've worked in graphics on Macs and PC's for over 15 years. Mac's are 100% rock solid in there day to day operation. Out of numerous Mac's I've used, I've known '1' hard drive failure, and that was on a 10 year old machine. I've seen engineers having to be called out to 'PC's' often, so there's ongoing expense! I can take many file formats from PC to Mac but not the other way. Mac's are also simple to network, even old systems to new. If anyone has any ideas, I've got a windows XP computer that I've never managed to network to a windows 98 computer. The only computer that will connect to both and transfer files, is..........a Mac! :)

I JUST got the new 24 inch iMac and I LOVEEEE it. :)

You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave FreeOnes.
I'm typing this via iMac. It's an awesome machine. Safari has Private Browsing that makes you able to hide your history. :) Fast and complete package stuff (iLife). You can download OpenOffice to work on word, excel, powerpoint, etc. Colours are so realistic. You will digital high quality sound too.

Yesterday afternoon, my two cats were sparring in a playful way, as cats do, well, in all of the excitement, the younger one / sailed up onto my desk crashing into my iMac slamming it down on its backside . . while the hard drive was zooming along.

To make a long story short everything is just fine.

Don't ask me :dunno: I know of drives that would have been destroyed from about a tenth of the shock that me iMac incurred.

So does Chrome, and they've got early builds available for Mac now too.

macs are computers for people that know nothing about computers.
a lot of mac owners (and people in this thread) will tell you about the mac's "raw processing power" and that it's "really good for graphics", but in reality macs use the exact same CPU/chipset and graphics chips as PCs. so how can they be more powerful?

macs are more expensive, are compatible with very little software compared to windows (or even linux), and apple charges $99 for OS upgrades that are free on windows.

there are evidently more security threats on windows (larger market share attracts more hackers, evidently), but i use spybot, malware bytes, and ad aware (all free programs) and haven't had a problem with a virus or other malware in years.

pretty much every browser lets you erase your history. openoffice is available on windows 95-vista, linux, freeBSD, solaris, and OS/2. the quality of colours dependsd on your display and your graphics card. all PCs have digital sound since they are... computers.

5-10 years ago, I'd probably agree with you, but I know an awful lot of people in the computer industry that use Macs. I'm not a Mac fanboy or anything, but in all honesty, I think Macs are not sold to people who do or don't know anything about computers, but rather, to people who want to do things a certain way. People essentially pay for Apple, what it stands for, and what implications that has.

My my that sure sounds like a pejorative.
Know nothing about them how ? Their usage or service ?
If usage, please qualify it. If service, is that necessarily a bad thing ?
That's like saying - People who buy a certain brand of car know nothing about them.
