While I'm not a big Martin Scorsese's fan, I LOVED "The Departed." Mark Wahlberg's character alone is worth the price of admission! :1orglaugh

A true legend. (Also a sociopath.) The trial is going to be interesting—I don't think he was as big as a Gotti, but the insularity of the 1-mile square town of Southie (South Boston) makes it really colorful. Kind of like Don Corleone back in the old days as opposed to Michael in the contemporary era. The FBI recruited this guy as an informant to go after the Italian Mafia, and he started corrupting the agents from the get-go, using them to his own ends. Not to mention, Whitey's brother, William "Billy" Bulger, was President of the Massachusetts Senate for almost 20 years.

They finally got him .... I have to admit, I didn't think they would; or were even bothering any more.

I know he is a vile sociopath, but he's also 81 ... I'm not sure - in this case - if society is being served and protected by now having to incur what will no doubt be a phenomenal cost in having to incarcerate and try a walking corpse.
