Interesting vending machines.

Here in USA there are very few things vended. Newspapers, snacks, drinks, sports cards, cigarettes. Occasionally you can find travel items like aspirins, pens, tissues, and grooming stuff. Condoms and tampons can be found in a few bathrooms along with cologne. Someone told me about beer being vended in Germany but in Japan they vend EVERYTHING!

Yes that does cover just about Everything :D

Have you heard about the crazy amounts of flavored Kit-Kats in Japan? It's crazy. And all the different types of flavored sodas around the world.
Yes it is crazy, one of my friends got hooked on the many flavored Kit-Kats and continued to buy them online when he returned from Japan. I tried the wasabi flavored ones and it wasn't bad...

Geez. Don't they have, like, stores?

Though a vending machine on a train sounds like a fantastic idea. But noooo, it'd take up too much space!

Japan is short on space and thus brick and mortar stores are very expensive to operate. I have some facts from another video I watched:

There is one vending machine for every 23 people.
Vending generates 7 trillion yen per year (100 yen to a dollar)
5 million machines in Japan.
Each machine takes in $15,000 average per year.
Each machine is equipped with a tracking device to alert police for tampering.

It showed a place where beer and hot saki machines were that people hung out after work. Cheaper than the bars too.

Conspiracy...
The weird and wacky flavors of Kit Kat in Japan

Baked potato. Soy sauce. Fruit Parfait. These aren't just delicious foods; they are also flavors of Kit Kat candy.

Kit Kats are the most popular confectionery treat in Japan, according to AdAge. "Kit Kat" approximates to "kitto katsu" - a Japanese expression meaning good luck. (Literally: "surely win.") The candy has become hugely popular as a gift, especially for schoolchildren, and candy-maker Nestle has capitalized on the craze by making dozens of unique Kit Kat flavors. The varied tastes were made to pay tribute to the unique tastes and foods of Japan. But to outsiders, they might seem a little... unusual.

Check out some of the strangest candy flavors you'll ever see.

Huh. That's interesting and makes sense.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
My very first beer was from a japanese vending machine on the way home from school. Then trying to hide the fact that I was buzzed.

You seemingly can find just about anything in japanese vending machines. That's where I got my first girlfriend. Kawaii.

Eh, maybe in general they're just shy and don't the like banal chit-chat they would get shopping in a store.

Is it any different to shopping online?

Also, Japan is an island...is it any surprise they're a little weird?

Agreed, besides there isn't much you want to talk about when you are shopping for porn and used underwear :o
