i think the key telling point in your post is in your b.s. "lament" at the end of the post which seems to indicate that you feel superior to journalists.

No, I just expect at least one story -- I'll take one out of twenty -- to feature an expert who can talk about the specifics on why this launch was a joke even before it fired off the pad. And then the performance confirmed it. It doesn't take much for experts to explain things in layman's terms.

Carl Sagan excelled at it, and he was as smart as they come. Most people don't know him for his earlier, scientific breakthroughs. There are countless experts who can "bring it down" to non-expert speak in 60 seconds. In person, I excel at it myself (e-mail, forums, etc... are hardly a good means), or I would not be a good, technical consultant for non-technical people at all.

You see here, it wasn't that it "just failed." Things are rarely black'n white. People should understand that. It's that this had a 100% chance of failure, because the design was 100% sub-orbital. North Korea, like Iran, pries on the general ignorance of the masses.

They don't have space launch capability at all. Everyone knows it. This design was no different. If it was, then you would have heard people stating such well before the launch. This was clearly a sub-orbital launch system, incapable of escape velocity with any payload. I.e., there is a point where the mass of the vehicle itself makes it incapable, no matter how small the mass of the payload, it won't even reach escape velocity.

Which means this launch system has only one purpose, payload delivery from one point on the Earth to another point on the Earth. And that delivery is at multi-mach speeds, which means that only has one purpose -- weapons delivery.

Why the fuck can't the media explain that? Not just, "oh, it failed, we think it was military." Explain why it was 100%, undeniable, military. Just like Iran's enrichment program. Flat out technically detail why to say anything otherwise is just a flat out lie.
