The people that are actually into the culture and helped to create it are still around and they will be for some time. It's only the people that thought that they could make a quick buck by breaking the "next big thing" with a peircing and a cheap hair dye and not understand why it is that it appeals to people, especially outside of the porn world, that are going away and good riddance.
I frequently talk with and would consider a freind someone that was one of the pioneers in the genre. She published a magazine that featured "alternative" models and music reviews in the 80's and 90's and was one of, if not the first to transfer it into a website. (I'm not going to promote here, but if you do a little reasearch you can figure out who it is.) She considers herself a feminist and an artist and doesn't really like the label because she says that sex is important and a big part of what she does, but it's not the only thing.
But I will take this oppurtunity to talk shit about the Suicide Girls. I've talked with several models that worked with them and were unsatisfied about the way that they were treated and the projects that they were involved with. They are unprofessional and bad at managing a business and from what I hear Sean is a pretty shitty person that has dicked over a lot of people.
