Is Gordon Brown really such a bastard?

1. He's a politician
2. He's got a glass eye
3. He picked his nose in public and on camera
4. He's a bit Scottish
5. He helped engineer the economy into manure
6. He's not really Labour in the traditional sense
7. Is he really that evil?

Say whatever you want... comments welcome from all parts of the Globe (provided they allow FreeOnes).

I don't know. Is he? I mean, has his biological father come forth and claimed him? :dunno:

I gave him a chance like most people did when he first arrived. He didnt deliver, not all of which is his fault I'll give him that. But he hasnt handled anything that has been thrown at him well.

But I think the only thing worse than Brown is the Tories back in power  especially with that prick Cameron as leader, and as that is becoming an ever more likely possibility, I'm thinking about moving to Iran.

So thats a vote lost from me for Labour and The Conservatives, so who's left; The Liberal Democrats? The Green's? Whats the point!!! :crash:

The last Tory government inherited the weakest economy in Europe with spiralling unemployment and passed on to Tony and Gordon the strongest major economy.Looks like they are going to have to do a repeat job.
Like any sick patient the UK required major surgery which was painful at times and some good tissue was removed with the bad.But the patient survived and thrived better than ever before until it got into the wrong company took to drugs , the drug of uncontrolled borrowing and spending.

I can accept a guy with different politics from myself. What I despise is utter ineptitude, incompetence and corruption .

Brown had not been the best for the UK in this time, but he hasn't been the worst either. Just a bit bland. He seems to be a good economist nonetheless. He is a party lad most probably.

Kneel before my awesomeness!
He was better taking as chancellor, more behind the scenes, he's not much of a figurehead. But you've got to respect him taking the lead trying to sort out the mess that americas banks have made

I'll accept you differing point of view to mine, I may not agree with it fully but thats for another time.

But, what I have highlighted seems to me a rather untrue statement. The Tories where just as corrupt (in the end anyway) as any Labour party member is today. We dont really need to go and look them up they are quite well known. Whether it be sex scandals, or financial, this is not just a one party problem.

Yes, these scandals only seem to happen at the ends of a parties reign, but it's wrong to just point out this governments corrupt elements when only 12 years previously the Tories were in the exact same boat.

There was nothing like a comparison between the corruption levels but remember also the pledge of New Labour to be free from sleaze. Also, the Tories caught out resigned.

Who said Gordon was a good economist? He was handed a strong and improving economy on a plate , he was pledged to stick to Tory spending plans for 2 years (but which he claimed afterwards was "prudence") and from then on had a free ride largely because the world economy was more favourable than at any time in history.Cheap Chinese goods kept inflation in check.Even Tony Blair said he was just lucky rather than good and the Governor of the Bank of England said he was rescued by a calm sea and a following wind.Trouble is that after years of growth which he thought were because of him rather than in spite of him he has the impression he is just the man to save the economy of the world. It was new Labour who removed the controls from the banking system,.
You will notice that though our prosperous years were because of global conditions we don't hear that, but our present situation which has been made worse by years of reckless government borrowing is always prefaced by the word "global"

I cant argue, all of the points you have raised are correct. So there is no point in me trying to defend Labour where there is no deffence to be made.

But would I ever vote Tory? No .... :dunno: that's just the way it goes I guess.

It's good to be the king...
