There is absolutely nothing to say that some who plays paintball is going to walk into school/work and start shooting people. I play paintball on a regular basis, and yes some of the paintball markers do look like real guns, but they still shoot .68 caliber paintballs. And it's usually either higher end mechanical paintball markers that look like actual military guns, or they look authentic because the player who owns it has modded it to look that way. I am tired of people looking to blame stuff on shit without hard definite proof that yes it does do this, or yes it does cause you to do this. My advice to the media, get you fucking facts straight before you start blaming something. Most paintball players are retired military/police, some players play it because the legitimately enjoy playing the sport, some players like the rush of adrenaline.
Paintball promotes teamwork, and sportsmanship. Now I'm not saying everyone who plays is a good sportsman, there are always bad sportsman in every sport, I don't care what anyone says, but paintball is considered one the safest to play. The paintball markers must be under a certain FPS (Feet Per Second) which varies at the different paintball field from 260 FPS - 285 FPS. Players must wear a protective helmet specifically made for paintball that cover the face, hell I have one that covers the whole head.
I am just sick and tired of hearing about stupid teens going out and doing drive by shootings with a paintball marker, or the sport getting accused of promoting violence because a mentally unstable person plays paintball a couple times, then goes into school/work and shoots a bunch of people. The sport has bad publicity as it is, without the media blaming it for something it does promote.
Sorry about the long winded rant, but I play the sport, I enjoy playing the sport, and most players that do play the sport of paintball to any extent will agree with me.
