Is your girl from a different country than you?

Just wondering how many of you are in, or have been in, a similar situation that I am in right now. My girl is from Ukraine......I am a red fucking blooded American, and damn proud of it. However, when the comment "I wonder how much the cultural differences will affect us?" first entered the relationship, I thought little of it.....now, after nearly a year, the gravity of said comment has really begun to hit home.

Not to say that it hasn't had some of the finest moments I have ever known; it has. Tonight we walked along a river bank and watched the sun set behind the spring laden trees, while the fish leaped and ate......it was a scene straight out of a southern novel......but there are times when I look at her and scratch my head.......sometimes, I wonder if it would be easier to just date an American girl, but I can't do that, because they are some of the stupidest creatures to breathe the very air I do......well, that's been my experience anyway.

So......share the tales......or tails, as it were......anyone else sign up for the long haul with someone who does not hail from your home country? What did you think? Did it work? Was it all puppy dog tails and ice cream? Would you do it again? Are you still in it?

Meh. People are basically the same and into the same things when you get down to it. I would assume that there has to be something that you like about this girl, otherwise you wouldn't be dating her, so what does it matter?

Meh. People are basically the same and into the same things when you get down to it. I would assume that there has to be something that you like about this girl, otherwise you wouldn't be dating her, so what does it matter?

Ahhh, therein lies the challenge my friend. You would not think it would be all that different, but it is. Very.

Families are very different, and different in how they function, which can and will be a HUGE challenge when they meet. Cultural priorities are different, and play a huge role. Language barriers also creep up.....though she speaks near perfect English, it is not her first language, and that can be a hurdle at times as well.....the things you and I take for granted have to be spelled out, and that can be confusing and not always brought forth in the way you think it should, or even could be.

Day to day life for you and I is something that does not even encroach upon our consciousness.....however, for someone who is experiencing life in the U.S. for the first time, it can be extremely confounding, and I having to be the one to explain it and make sense of it, and sometimes don't feel as though I am shedding as much light on it as I could be, though at these times I don't know how else I can do it any better than I am.

Challenge after challenge......I'm not complaining....I love her with all my heart......it's just that sometimes, I wonder why I chose to jump into a situation that is already primed with difficulties, and these are then compounded with the obstacles of her being foreign born. :dunno:

Been there, done that but that was a long, long time ago back when I was around 19 or 20. We were each other's first experience so it was a bit awkward until we got the hang of it. She was really cute and extremely nice, she'd even make those Christian teen girls look like Paris Hilton type bitches. She was raised to be a traditional Japanese lady so she treated me like I was worth my weight in gold, she cooked, cleaned, ironed my clothes, and would let me do to her just about anything I wanted (no, I didn't go anal on her, back then I thought it was kind of yucky but I'm sure she would have let me). I sure do miss her and I was just left with the impression that marriage is really worth it with a woman like her.

A lot of people here in the United States who claim they are from another country were born here in the US, so it's hard to tell if someone is REALLY from another country or just has a background or family history with that heritage.

I worked with a guy named Nate Melendez once who said he was Puerto Rican, from Puerto Rico, and was highly flamboyant about his Puerto Rican heritage. Nate Melendez was born in Parma, OH and had lived there for his whole entire life. Puerto Rican? I think not.

In my lifetime the chicks I have dated that lived in the US but were originally from another country have been 1 chick from Brazil, 2 chicks from Russia, 1 Armenian chick (but she was born and raised in the US though), 2 chicks I met while in Canada (What I wouldn't give to hear "c'est si bon, oui, c'est si bon" while having sex with a French-Canadian chick again), 1 Puerto Rican chick (born in the States but raised in Germany and living in the States again) and most recently 1 chick from Mexico.

Based on the above experience, the French-Canadian chicks were the hands down best in everything and they would be my preference.

The Armenian and Puerto Rican chicks I dated had two of the best asses I have ever seen in my entire life. The Puerto Rican chick's lower body looked almost identical to Nina Hartley's in her prime and she had a perfect asshole but was turned off by the mere thought of a tongue anywhere near it. That was torture! Imagine after 2 years and a ton of subtle coaching I was able to work my way up to 2 licks but what's the point if it turned her off??

I could do without ever dating a Russian chick again in my life. You guys can have 'em..The two I date had this inherent belief that American chicks were stupid and beneath them because they said American chicks fell in love too easy (yeah, whatever).

The Brazilian chick and the Mexican chick were just attractive chicks and nothing really stood out to comment on with them I can think of. The rest have been American chicks.:2 cents:

Yes I have. Really there is not a lot of differences. It sounds like you were dating the wrong kind of American girls. Stupid people exist in all countries. I would like to date someone from Spain though.
